発言のタイプ別おすすめ表現を多数学びます。

◎今年度最終月、３月では、
▶︎「会話の原則」を中心に、
これまで培った英語力を会話力にしていきましょう。

Lesson 223 会話の原則⑪：NAGARE 引いて押せ１

👉NAGARE 引いて押せ１
▶︎今回は、会話の流れの中で「引いて押す」表現を学びましょう。

会話の場面

登場人物

・ドリス (Doris)
・恋人のデレク (Derek) – デスパレート・ラッツの元ベーシスト

状況

・デレクはまだデスパレート・ラッツに戻りたいようですね。恋人のドリスとそのことについて
話しています。

Opening で

Roza
▶︎ Hey, everyone. This is Akino Roza.

David
▶︎ And I’m David Evans. I have a night light at my house.

Dialogue で

① It was your decision to leave the band.【 leave the band の意味 】
👉 leave the band これは「バンドを辞める」という使い方をしているわけですね。
「去る」というわけです。

② Why don’t you start your own band? 【軽い提案を表す Why don’t you 〜？】
👉 Why don’t you 〜？お馴染みのフレーズが出てきましたね。軽い提案を行うフレーズです。
▶︎そして、your own band – この所有格＋own の形は、所有格の強調です。
「あなた自身の」というわけです。

③ Nah, I’m not good at writing songs like Bill. 【 be good at の at のニュアンス】
👉 be good at 〜「〜が得意である」というフレーズが出てきましたね。
at は「点」-「〜という点では良い」ただそれだけのフレーズです。

▶︎ OK! Let’s jump into today’s practice. Today’s phrases are very similar to
playing a game of catch. You have to catch the ball first before you can return it.
That’s the image of these phrases.

・Exactly, but 〜
・Very true, but 〜

▶︎ Let’s continue. This next one is a full sentence.
・That may be true, but Bill likes him.
Let’s try that one more time.
・That may be true, but Bill likes him.

▶︎ Moving right on.
・That’s interesting, but 〜
・That’s a nice thought, but 〜
・That would be nice, but 〜

▶︎ And our last one.
・I can understand how you feel, but 〜
Great job, guys. I hope you were able to feel the push and pull in these sentences
while you practiced.
