▶︎今月はまず、「会話の原則」について実例あげて取り上げていきます。

Lesson 9 会話の原則⑧：NAGARE＜流れ＞流れに乗れ！

👉 NAGARE▶︎会話は話し手と聞き手双方が作る – 会話は流れが乱されないように。

会話の場面

登場人物

・会社員のタエコ (Taeko)
・IT企業のマネジャーであるブライアン (Brian)

状況

・タエコがサンフランシスコに訪れ、ブライアンが迎えに来ています。
タエコがお腹空いていて、食べ物の話題となります。

Opening で

Roza
▶︎ Hey, everyone. Akino Roza here. Let’s get started.

David
▶︎ And I’m David Evans. Let’s have fun today. OK? Here we go!

Dialogue で

① Yes, the weather is usually good.【頻度副詞について】
👉さあ、ここで usually という頻度副詞が出てきました。
「普通は、普段は」というわけですね。頻度副詞の位置は not と同じです。
ここでは、be動詞の後ろ、というわけです。
▶︎その後の、So, how was your flight?
この so は大変重要ですよ。

② You must be starving. 【「違いない」の must】
👉さあ、ここの You must be starving. – must は「違いない」を表現している
助動詞ですね。もう文全体を覚えて下さいね。
You must be starving. 「お腹ぺこぺこに違いない」というわけです。

③ I know just the place.【「１つに決まる」the】
👉さあ、ここで the place となっていますよね。この the place
– the という限定詞は「１つに決まる」つまり「私はまさに１番の場所を知って
いるんだ」という強調が、ここでは働いている、というわけです。

▶︎ OK, everyone. It’s time to practice.
Today’s phrases are nice and short. So you can have them ready anytime.

▶︎ And remember, everyone. Just keep in mind the flow – NAGARE.

David
▶︎ All right. Here’s the first one.
・So, why is everyone wearing neckties today?
One more time.
・So, why is everyone wearing neckties today?

Roza
▶︎ Let’s continue to three examples of “tell me.”
・Tell me, what kind of car did you buy?
・Tell me, what’s on your mind?
・Tell me, what happened?

David
▶︎ All right. Our last examples use “hey.”
Be careful with “hey.” Don’t say it too strongly, or it sounds like you’re angry.
Listen, and copy my style.
・Hey, can you lend me some money?
And another.
・Hey, can I talk to you real quick?
・Hey, can you do me a favor? Could you scan these and send me the files?
