引き続き基本動詞のイメージをつかみ
「日本語を経由せず、英語を使う力」を養います。

Lesson 38 get の「変化(〜になる)」

👉 get の基本イメージ「動いて手に入れる」
※ Lesson 36 から get の学習に入っています。

Opening で

Roza
▶︎ Hey, everyone. Akino Roza here.

Chris
▶︎ Hi, guys. Chris McVay here. Speaking of “uru” or “uranai,”
I’m definitely for sale.

Dialogue で

① I impressed myself.
👉さあ、impress – これは「印象を与える、感心させる」という動詞ですね。
ここでは myself を使って、「自分を感心させた」と、まあ、言っているわけですね。
Chris
▶︎ Yeah, it’s like a half-joking boasting about himself, right?
– その通りですよね。ちょっと冗談めかした言い方であります。

② We’re finally on the red Planet.
👉さあ、ここのダイアログでは「とうとう、ついに」という表現、
２つ出てきました。
▶︎まず最初の at last という表現。そしてこの文のfinally
– どちらも覚えておいてくださいね。

③ I can’t believe it!
👉もうこれは、まとめて覚えていかなくてはいけない表現ですね。
「信じられません」

④ It seems like a dream.
👉そして、seems like – というわけですね。
「〜のように見える」という表現です。

⑤ It’s no dream.
👉さあ、It’s not a dream. と代わりに It’s no dream. と強い表現を
使っていますよね。「夢では全くないんだ」というわけです。
▶︎ no – 非常に強い表現です。しっかり覚えておきましょう。

⑥ Yes, it’ll be one giant leap for “womankind.”
👉さあ、ここでは mankind と言っていますが、
オリジナルな表現は “mankind” 「人類にとって」という表現でしたね。
アポロ11号月面着陸のアームストロング船長の名言でした。

After the Dialogue

It seems like a dream.

▶︎ OK, guys. Are you ready to practice again? Here we go!
“Get,” I’m sure you’re all used to the basic image now of motion.
And this naturally leads to the meaning of “change.”
Let’s see some examples.

Roza
▶︎ And remember! Think in English.

Chris
▶︎ get angry
You weren’t angry? No. You are.
・get wet
You are dry? No. You are wet.
・get warmer
You are colder? No. You are warmer.

Roza
▶︎ Here’s the next example.
・get drunk / get married / get excited / get disappointed

Chris
▶︎ Here some more. After me.
・He got arrested for drunk driving. ×２

▶︎ And the last one.
・It’s getting colder and colder. ×２
