Dialogue で
① But a dress is more practical than that.
👉 more practical「より実用的な」という比較級が出てきました。
長い単語だから、more をつけて比較級としているわけです。
❓なぜ、長い単語には more, most をつけて比較級、最上級とするのでしょうか。
– それは、more, most が実は many, much の比較級、最上級だからなんです。
more practical というのは、詳しく言えば、
「もっとたくさん実用的」ということなんですね。
※ほら、比較級にピッタリな言い回しでしょう。
長い単語の前の more, most、お忘れなく！
② Whatever …
👉「何でもいい」というわけです。この「投げやり」な感じ。
日本語では「勝手にしろ！」という感じですね。
