▶︎So let’s get started!
Words and Phrases
– To answer or deal with, to handle.
Mr. Shibata asked how Mr. Grisdale would respond to,
or answer frequently asked questions.
– A kind of meeting where ideas are exchanged.
In this case, a forum on the Internet is where people
can leave messages or discuss subjects with ohters
all at the same time.
– This used to be known as a BBS or Bulletin Board System.
– How to get around.
Transportation refers to all means of travel or getting around
from walking to airplanes.
– Transportation in Japan is a big topic on Mr. Grisdale’s site
covering things like wider sidewalks, getting on the trains,
and alternatives to stairs.
– A task, something to overcome, a difficult job.
This is a more motivational way of talking about a problem
or obstacle that needs to be overcome.
– If we view problems as challenges, almost like a game,
it can make them easier to deal with.
– Crowdsourcing is using the general public, usual on the
Internet rather than having tasks done within a company
by its employees.
– Mr. Grisdale’s advice is to crowdsource or ask others
on the Internet interesting questions that he cannot answer.
