Words and Phrases
● mortgage ▶︎住宅ローン
– housing loan とも言います。
● capital gain ▶︎キャピタルゲイン
– これに対して、家賃などの収入のことは income gain と言います。
● tax-exempt ▶︎非課税の
– exempt は「除外される」という意味です。
Business Phrase of the Day
● It’s a question of 〜.
👉「それは〜の問題だ」
・物事の考え方やとらえ方を示すときに使われます。
□ It’s not a question of A, but it’s a question of B.
👉「Aの問題ではなく、Bの問題だ」
・２つの視点を並べて「AではなくBだ」という言い方
Alternative Expressions
●「それは〜の問題である、重要なのは〜である」と言うときのフレーズ
◎ It’s a matter of 〜
👉「〜ということだ」
◎ It’s about 〜
👉「それは〜についてである」
※ get across the message
– メッセージを get across 「向こう側に届ける」
ということで、「伝える」という意味のフレーズです。
◎ It comes down to 〜
👉「〜に降りてくる」つまり
「〜にかかっている」という言い方です。
Upgrade Your Communication Skills
◎ raise concerns over 〜
👉raise は「持ち上げる」
「不安を持ち上げる」ということで
「懸念を引き起こす」となります。
