Review をします。
それでは第 26 週 ( 10月 Week 2 )の復習です。
※前置詞学習の10週目なので、前置詞の Review ⑩とします。
前置詞の Review ⑩
・ Week 26 は、前置詞 for と to 学習しました。

Lesson 126 for のイメージ ⑤：範囲限定
| 🔴 for のイメージ「向かって」 ▶︎「注視・フォーカス」につながる ※どこを見据えて話をしているのかを示す、ということ |
[Key] We haven’t seen you for a while.
※私たちはしばらく会っていませんでした。
▶︎この文の「範囲」の使い方もその１つ。
a while という範囲（期間）に注目して We haven’t seen you と述べているのです。
| ①期間の for は頻繁に使われる。 ※ I was in London for a month. [ １ヶ月間 ] ※ I’ll be a bachelor for life. [ 生涯 ] – during は「その期間内に出来事が起こる」に焦点がある |
| ② for 以降の範囲にフォーカスしている。 ※ You’re young for your age. [ 歳の割には ] ※ short for a basketball player / small for a T, rex |
| ③ さまざまな範囲を示す for ※ responsible for quality control [ 品質管理には ] ※ had pasta for lunch / had pasta for dinner [ 昼食には / 夕食には ] ※ for all I know [ 私の知る限り – ことによると・ひょっとすると |

Lesson 1２7 for のイメージ ⑦：理由・原因
| 🔴 for のイメージ「向かって」▶︎「注目・フォーカス」は、「理由・原因」にもなる |
[Key] Now I see why you are jumping for joy.
※私はどうしてあなたが跳び上がって喜んでいるのかもうわかります。
▶︎ jumping for joy は、joy という「理由」に注目しながら jumping と
述べているのです。
| ①「理由・原因」を表すfor – 「ありがとう / ごめんなさい」 ※ Thank you for 〜 . / I’m grateful for 〜. ※ I’m sorry for 〜. / I apologize for 〜. |

| ②「理由・原因」を表す for と reason のコンビネーション ※ For this reason, she didn’t do that. / For some reason, she didn’t do that. ※ There must be some reason for it. |

| ③よく知られた言い回し。 ※ You can’t see the forest for the trees. – the trees が原因 「細かなことのとらわれて全体を見通せないこと」 |
Lesson 1２８ to のイメージ ①：基本
| 🔴 to のイメージ ▶︎「到達点(を指し示す)」 |
[Key] I went to the theater last night to see it.
※私は昨晩、それを見るために映画館に行きました。
▶︎この文の went to the theater は、went という行為がどこに到達したのか
を示しています。
◎ for の「向かって」と近いイメージだが、for は「向かって」いるだけ。
到達はしていないのです。

| ② さまざまな「到達点」を示す to ※ known to many generations [ 誰に知られているのか、という到達点 ] ※ He is kind to ladies. / He is polite to ladies/ [ 態度の到達点 ] |
| ③「対象」を指し示して、対比する to ※ We won five to two. ※ Chris is ten years [ senior / junior ] to me. ※ prefer math to English |
Lesson 1２９ to のイメージ ②：くっつく・つながり
| 🔴 to のイメージ「到達点(を指し示す)」▶︎「くっつく・つながり」を表す |
[Key] Keep it in your mind and stick to it while you paint.
※絵を描いている間、心の中で常にそれを意識しそれに専念しなさい。
▶︎この文は「くっつく」。stick する到達点を to が示し、「〜にくっつく・専念する」
としています。Stick to は Stick to it!（頑張れ！）という使い方もあります。
| ①すべて「くっつく」仲間 ※ Promise me to keep it to yourself. [ あなた自身から離れない ] ※ keep to the right [ 右から離れない ] / apply to 〜 |
| ②受け身の形で「くっつく」 ※ must be attached to an email ※ must be [ stapled / glued ] to your CV [ staple「ホチキスで留める ] |
