▶︎先月に引き続き「発言タイプ」ー【判断を表現する】を勉強します。
「失敗」「成功」「類似・同一・相違」や「決定」「決意表明」「相手の都合を尋ねる」など
「これから」に関わる表現を学んでいきましょう。

▶︎今回は、「決めかねている」を表す表現を学びましょう。
会話の場面
登場人物
・不動産会社で働くバーバラ (Barbara)
・本社の上司のカトウ (Mr.Kato)
状況
・カトウさんとバーバラが、ヒロキくんの物件 – 分譲マンションについて話をしています。
Opening で
Roza
▶︎ Hey, everyone. This is Akino Roza. Let’s get started with today’s lesson.
David
▶︎ And I’m David Evans. Let’s do it.
Dialogue で
① So, Barbara, I understand that you have a high potential client .
【 potential の意味 】
👉さあ、potential「潜在的な」あるいは「可能性のある」「見込みのある」というわけです。
② You mean Hiroki? 【 you mean の働き 】
👉 you mean – これは「相手の真意」を確かめる表現でしたね。
③ Has he decided on a location? 【 location のニュアンス 】
👉さあ、location「場所」と訳されますが、「位置」に focus がある単語です。
④ Yes, he’s looked at several renovated condos …【 renovate の意味】
👉さあ、renovated という単語が出てきましたね。これは、「改装された」- renovate の
過去分詞というわけです。
⑤ Why don’t you talk to the contractors? 【 contractor の意味 】
👉 contractor – これは「契約人」というわけですが、「工事請負人」あるいは「業者」という
ことですね。
⑥ Maybe they can enlarge it. 【 enlarge の en の役割 】
👉そして、ここで enlarge という単語が使われています。「大きくする」というわけですが、
この en- という接辞は、動詞を作る接辞だと覚えておきましょう。

▶︎ I think you mean “a wall.” A fence is very thin. So it would be very difficult
to walk on.

▶︎ Umm… If it’s made of stone, or it’s wide enough to walk on, yeah maybe
you should call it a wall.
