11月のテーマは、判断を表現する

「感謝したい」「頼み事をしたい」といった、
発言のタイプ別おすすめ表現を多数学びます。
などへとゆっくり進めていきます。

◎11月は
▶︎「発言タイプ」ー【判断を表現する】を勉強します。
私たちが日々行なっている、可能性や重要性、難易、優先などの判断を精度高く
表現することが目標です。

▶︎ Lesson 148 と 149 で、日常頻繁に使われる正誤判断の表現を学びましょう。

会話の場面

登場人物

・南の島で暮らすダグ (Doug) とシホ (Shiho)

状況

・ダグとシホが感謝祭を祝って、七面鳥を焼いていますが、それに絡んで….

Opening で

Roza
▶︎ Hey, everyone. This is Akino Roza.

David
▶︎ And I’m David Evans. Papa…..

Onishi
▶︎ What’s that?

David
▶︎ I think there’s a turkey in here.

Dialogue で

① I hope it doesn’t bother the neighbors.【 bother の意味】
👉ここでは、bother という動詞が出てきました。これは、トラブルを想起させる動詞です。
ここでは、「迷惑をかける」という意味で使っています。

② But Thanksgiving is a holiday when many families in America eat roasted turkey.
【関係副詞 when の使い方】
👉さあ、ここで a holiday の説明する関係副詞節が出てきています。
a holiday – そして、その時に、何が起こったのかを意識しながら、when で節を展開する。
それだけで、作れるお得な形です。

③ 〜 and it says … take a guess!　【 take a guess の意味】
👉 take a guess – これもまとめて覚える価値のあるフレーズ。「言い当てる」というわけです。

④ Oysters and lobsters were served. 【 serve の受動態】
👉 serve を受動態で使っていますね。「食べ物などを出す」ですから、ここでは受動態で
「出されていました」というわけです。
