10月のテーマは、さまざまな応答・知識

「感謝したい」「頼み事をしたい」といった、
発言のタイプ別おすすめ表現を多数学びます。
などへとゆっくり進めていきます。

◎10月は
▶︎「発言タイプ」ー【さまざまな応答・知識】を勉強します。
「応答」は相手の発言に対するスタンダードな受け答えです。
「知識」はさまざまな「知っているよ」の伝え方。どちらもとっても重要な発言タイプです。

👉知識③ know 以外の動詞を使った「知っている」
▶︎ know 以外の hear や tell を使った知識表現を学びましょう。

会話の場面

登場人物

・将棋クラブの部員リンダ (Linda)
・既にクラブをやめているアンドリュー (Andrew)

状況

・アンドリューが、将棋クラブに関する奇妙なうわさについて、部員のクラブにたずねています。

Opening で

Roza
▶︎ Hi, everyone. This is Akino Roza.

David
▶︎ And I’m David Evans. OK, you two, let’s jump in!

Dialogue で

① How are things at the shogi club? 【漠然として「様子・状況」を表す things 】
👉 How are things? この things は「様子・状況」を漠然と指しています。

② Some of the members might be in costumes.【 in のニュアンス】
👉 in costumes – この in – そのコスチュームの中に入っている、というイメージから
使われている in です。

Practice

▶︎ OK, everyone. It’s time to practice.

David
▶︎ Let’s get to it. Here’s our first.
・I’ve heard that you like playing video games.
・I hear that you like playing video games.

Roza
▶︎ Let’s continue.
・I heard about Dan’s new business.
・I heard about Dan’s new idea.
・I heard about Dan’s new venture.
And one more.
・I’ve never heard of such a thing.

David
▶︎ All right. Our next two are “can” and “can’t.” For “can” sentences, try to get
through to the verb as quickly as possible, but “can’t” make it nice and staccato.
So you can tell the difference between the two.
・I can tell the difference.
Feel that? Instead of “I can,” it’s “I c(a)n,” “I c(a)n” just like here.
Let’s try that one more time.
・I can tell the difference.
Now let’s try “can’t.”
・I can’t tell the difference.
