前置詞の勉強を続けます。

👉 with の「つながり（一緒）」のイメージ▶︎場所以外の「つながり」も表せる

Opening で

Roza

▶︎ What’s happening? What’s happening?

Dialogue で

① …it’s not easy.
👉さあ、it’s not easy という文が出てきました。
それは、もちろん文脈に現れた「Yuriko の仕事を私はずっとやっている」
それを受けて、「簡単じゃないわ」と言っているわけですね。
この it は、「受ける」感覚の単語、しっかりと感触をつかんでみてください。

② When I was in Singapore on my business trip?
👉 on my business trip というフレーズが出てきましたね。
この on は、ステージの on – そうした活動にある、ということを
示しているのです。

③ She greeted me with a smile on her face, but she really wanted
to see you.【読み方】
👉さあ、ここのクリスさんの発言にお気づきになりましたか。
you に微妙なですね、強勢が置かれていましたね。
彼女は [私に] 挨拶してくれたけど、本当は[あなたに]会いたかったんですよ
– ここでコントラストをつけていたわけです。
参考にしてください。

④ Oh, I’m sorry I missed her.
👉さあ、これはリポート文の形ですね。
I’m sorry「残念ですよ」と言ってから、何か残念なのか – その説明が
後ろの I missed her「彼女に会えなくて」となっているわけです。

⑤ She said she misses you.
👉ここもリポート文の形ですね。she said「言いました」その内容を
後続の節 she misses you が説明しているわけです。

⑥ She looked more relaxed than before.
👉この than の使い方ですね – than before まとめて覚えてしまってもいいでしょう。
「以前より」と言う使い方ですね。
Takeo is taller than Hanako. そこからですね、一刻も早くですね、脱出して
こうした than のイキイキとした表現、しっかりと覚えてみてくださいね。

After the Dialogue

Now we all know already that the basic image of “with” is “togetherness.”
So it’s only natural that we can use it to express two events happening
at the same time.
So let’s practice that together.

▶︎ Here we go!
・Wine improves with age.
So age is going along, and wine following the same direction
happening at the same time. Here we go! Once more after me.

▶︎ Continuing on.
・He is in bed with the flu.
So here too, we have two things going on at the same time.
He is in bed, with the flue. Let’s try one more time.
・He is in bed with the flu.
Next example.
・I can’t concentrate with all this noise.

・She greeted me with a smile on her face.
The greeting, the smile on her face moving along together
at the same time. That’s all. So once more after me.
