4月のテーマは基本動詞①

👉基本動詞とは
▶︎日常頻繁に使われる動詞のこと
– こうした動詞は極端に単純な意味を持つため、無数の状況と日本語訳に
対応します。
そのため基本動詞の学習は、

シンプルなイメージ(中核となる意味・ニュアンス)をつかみ、それがどういった
状況に使われるのかをつぶさに理解し頭に入れることが必要

👉 haveのイメージは「周りにある」- 位置を表す、動きのない静的なイメージ
▶︎その範囲にあるものに「権利・影響力」が及んでいることにつながる

▶︎ What? What was that?

▶︎ I just wanted to surprise you, Roza

Roza
▶︎ That was not a good surprise, Chris.
I guess today’s lesson will be full of surprises.

Dialogue で

① Oh, you noticed.
👉この notice と言う単語 – これあ「気づく」と訳される単語ですが、
sense「感じる」という動詞に非常に似ています。何か自分の感覚の
アンテナにですね、「あっ」と引っかかる – それがこの notice のイメージです。

② It was a surprise. 【読み方】
👉さあ、今のろーざさんの be動詞を強調した読み方 – 気づきましたか。
「私はあなたのことを驚かせたかったんだよ」と前の文で言われて、
「あ〜、実際にそれはサプライズ – 驚きだったね」と言って、文を強調
しているわけです。

③ Are you going to start playing again?
👉 be going to の形が出てきました。
「〜のつもり」- 意図を表す表現です。

④ That’s one of the reasons I got it .
👉 one of 複数形 – one of the reasons「理由の１つですよ」というわけです。
▶︎そしてその後ろに the reasons ( why ) I got it となるわけですが、
これはもちろん関係副詞の why が省略されているわけです。
– the reasons と言って、後ろに「節」をつなげる、この気軽な形、慣れましょう。

⑤ Yes, but I took out a loan.
👉 take out a loan「ローンを組む」- 非常に、日常頻繁に使われる表現ですが、
なかなか英語でスッと言える人は少ないかな、と思います。
しっかり覚えましょう。

⑥ Sure, go ahead!
👉相手を促す – go ahead。
しっかり覚えておきましょう。

Practice – make の表現

▶︎ OK, guys. Let’s continue our practice of “have.”
Remember that “have” is static – there’s no action.
So the basic image is just of “closeness.”
And this same basic image is useful for non-physical, abstract things
as well, like “authority,” it’s so close, it’s actually inside you.
But the basic image of “closeness” is what remains.

First, let us practice a concrete example. Are you ready?
・have a driver’s license on me – Try!
That’s right. The closeness of the driver’s license, right?
It’s what you possess.
So with that in mind, here we go again.
・have a driver’s license on me
Well done.

・have the authority to 〜
Here we are. It’s an abstract thing, right?
But you have the power, you have the control inside you.
So this basic image of closeness is still the same.

a lot of teachers that I’ve met throughout my life.

but the book. This is Victor Frankl, and his book “Man’s Search for Meaning”
had a great influence on me.
