Words and Phrases
● track record ▶︎実績
– track は車などの通った跡のこと。
track record で通った跡の記録。
● lead the charge ▶︎先導する
– この charge は運営・監督といった意味です。
lead the charge で、チームやプロジェクトを引っ張っていく感じ
Alternative Expressions
◎ I couldn’t agree more.
👉「これ以上賛成できない」⇨「大賛成」という意味です。
– I can’t ではなくて、I couldn’t となっているのは、
「もうこれ以上賛成しろ、と言われても」という仮定の
意味が含まれているからです。
◎ That’s exactly what I wanted to say.
👉「賛成」という言葉は入っていませんが、だれかのコメント
に対してこのように言えば、「大賛成」ということです。
◎ totally
👉全面的に、という意味。
– I totally agree that 〜. で 100%賛成ということです。
Upgrade Your Communication Skills
◎ What are your responsibilities?
👉仕事内容を聞く時の決まり文句
– responsibility と言えば「責任」ですが、担当業務を
聞くときもこのように使います。
◎ I head up the Finance Division.
👉管理職の場合は、担当部署を言う時もあり。
– head は動詞。head up で「統括している」という意味。
最後に
◎ Jenny さんが採用担当者だったら、どんな人を採用します。
– Well, a hiring manager is always looking for people who can provide the most overall value to the company.
– The two candidates both have strong points, so we have to decide who brings the full package or who can provide value in just about every aspect of the job.
