状況

・ジーニーが帰宅するとスタイン博士がいません。どうやら大変なことが起きたようで…

Opening で

Roza
▶︎ Sensei, it’s hard to tell you this, but your haiku were about the last lesson.

Onishi
▶︎ Ah, really?

Roza
▶︎ Hey, everyone. This is Akino Roza.

David
▶︎ And I’m David Evans. It’s hard to tell you this, but it’s time to start the lesson.

Onishi
▶︎ Yeah, that’s right.

Dialogue で

① I agree.【気軽に使える agree 】
👉ここで、I agree. という表現が出てきました。agree という動詞は「同意する」という
固い訳をするので、なかなかこうした使い方が難しいですけれども、日常語で気軽に使える
単語なんですよ。

② No gardens this time, OK?【以前のエピソードとのつながり】
👉さあ、これは、以前ですね、フランキーが他の家の庭に入り込んで、バラを摘んで、
バーバラに怒られたというお話を下敷きにしているんです。

③ I learned my lesson. 【 learn one’s lesson という表現】
👉 learn one’s lesson – これは、「失敗した経験から学ぶ、教訓を得る」ということ。

④ That’s fine. 【 fine の語感】
👉ここの fine の語感に注意しましょう。That’s fine.「それは素晴らしい」と言っている
わけではありません。fine は「にごりのない・問題がない」というわけです。
