「感謝したい」「頼み事をしたい」といった、
発言のタイプ別おすすめ表現を多数学びます。
などへとゆっくり進めていきます。

◎８月は
▶︎「発言タイプ」ー【引き出す】【感情を操作する】を勉強します。
日常頻繁にある情報や許可・意見などを相手から引き出したり、励まして
相手の感情を操作する方法についてです。

👉引き出す⑧「将来の展望」を引き出す
▶︎会話でよく話題にのぼる希望や夢など「将来の展望」をたずねる表現を学びましょう。

会話の場面

登場人物

・大学生のギャリー (Gary)
・大学のカウンセラー (Counselor)

状況

・ギャリーが、大学のカウンセラーに「専攻の変更」について相談しています。

Opening で

Roza
▶︎ Hey, everyone. Akino Roza here.

David
▶︎ And I’m David Evans. It’s nice to finally get to work with someone in the
same profession as me.

Dialogue で

① Not at all.【どういたしましての Not at all.】
👉さあ、ここでは Not at all. というフレーズが出てきましたね。
「どういたしまして」の意味でも使えると覚えておきましょう。

② I need some advice about changing majors.【数えられないadvice】
👉さあ、advice に some がついているのに複数形になっていませんね。
advice – これは uncountable noun です。「数えられない名詞」だから
-s はつきません。

③ I was thinking about changing from engineering to economics.
【「工学」「経済学」】
👉さあ、engineering, economics – なかなか馴染みのない単語が出てきたのかも
しれませんけれども、しっかりと覚えといてくださいね。必ず使う機会はありますよ。

④ I’m not sure yet. 【 yet のニュアンス】
👉さあ、yet は軽く「まだ」「未定」の意味を文に添えます。
「いや〜、はっきりしてないんですよ」「まだだよ」そんな感じです。

⑤ To get started, I’d like you to take this online survey.
【 to get started の意味】
👉 to get started – これは、もうまとめて覚えましょう。
「はじめに、最初に」というフレーズです。

Practice

▶︎ OK , everyone. It’s time for the practice.
Now for these we have some very frequently used questions – “What do you
want to be?” The question is “Should I say this clearly?” or “Can I blend and
shorten the sounds?” The key to this answer is “Who is speaking?”
This is a guidance counselor. So they’re not going to use the casual, fast,
blending sound.
So when we practice today, instead of “What-do-you-want-to-be?” let’s practice
a nice, formal pronunciation – “What do you want to be?”
OK. Here we go!
