▶︎７月も６月に引き続き、「発言タイプ」についてで
人をある方向に「動かす」言語活動の②です。

▶︎指示に頻繁に使われる「目的語説明型」を用いて指示する表現を学びましょう。

会話の場面

登場人物

・ピーコック教授 (Professor Peacock)
・アキ(Aki)

状況

・二人は東京にいて、アキが婚姻届をピーコック教授に書いて、と言っていますよ。

Opening で

Roza
▶︎ Hey, everyone. Akino Roza here.

David
▶︎ And I’m David Evans. OK, you two, let’s wrap it up, and begin
today’s lesson.

Dialogue で

① So, when are we going to the ward office?【出てきた単語は覚える】
👉 さあ、ここで ward office というフレーズが出てきましたね。
「区役所」です。英語で言わなくてはいけない時が必ずありますよ。

② I need you to fill out this form.【fill out の意味】
👉さあ、ここでは fill out というフレーズが出てきましたね。
これは、「書き込む」「必要事項を書き込む」というニュアンスの表現です。

③ Wait, it needs to be written in Japanese.【need to ＋受け身】
👉さあ、この文章ですね、主語は「届出の書類」ですね。それが it です。
それが be written「書かれなければならない」それに need to が使われて
いるわけですね。この形、しっかりと確認してくださいね。

Practice

David
▶︎ OK, everyone. It’s practice time. How are you feeling? Are you ready?

Roza
▶︎ A big part of this practice session has to do with the relationship
between the people talking.

David ▶︎
・OK. These first two phrases use “I want you to.”
Now I’d like you to be careful here because “I want you to” is a high
pressure phrase. Let’s practice now.
・I want you to wear a suit.
Let’s try one more.
・I want you to listen more.

Roza
▶︎ Now For this next example, we’ll use “I’d like you to.”
Now this is a phrase that you can use without so much pressure.
So if you want to say “〜して欲しい” without so much pressure, I’d suggest
this one. Let’s try that together.
・I’d like you to write your full name here.
One more time.
・I’d like you to write your full name here.

▶︎ Oh, that feels much better. OK, Let’s keep practicing.
Sometimes we want to say “want you” or “need you.”
So let’s practice a few with those.
・I want you home by midnight.
・I need you ready in ten minutes.

▶︎ And I think these phrases are often used between the family members.
Let’s do one last one.

You can imagine a teacher talking to their students. One more time.
