3月のテーマは「発言の流れを作る重要表現 」
👉3月は、2月に引き続き流れ「フロー」についての学習です。
Lesson 233 積み重ねるフロー ②
・in addition [to], on the top of 〜, what’s more, not only A but also B
Opening で
Roza
▶︎ Hey, everyone. Akino Roza here.
Chris
▶︎ Ah, sorry. Chris McVay here. I was just dreaming about my trip to Egypt
to see the Sphinx and the Pyramids.
Dialogue で
① I didn’t see your name on the list of volunteers or the research trip.
👉さあ、ここでは on the list「リストに」という表現で、on が使われて
いましたよね。ここは、in ではだめなんでしょうか、Roza さん?
Roza ▶︎ Well, it would sound a little bit unnatural. Here the list acts like
a “platforms.” So “on” is more natural to use.
Chris ▶︎ And I think, you know, the original idea of a list is something
you write down on a piece of paper. And a piece of paper is flat.
So “in” is a bit difficult.
② Oh, the one to Egypt?
👉 the one – この one は、research trip を受けているわけです。
③ 〜, and I’ve been there already.
👉 I’ve been there という文が出てきましたね。この文は現在完了形の
経験用法「そこに行ったことがある」- そうしたことを表しています。
Practice
.Chris
▶︎ Hey, it’s practice time.
Today let’s focus on some phrases that introduce additional information.
OK. Here we go!
・This job requires five years’ experience. In addition, we also require
a driver’s license.
So it’s very easy in this case, right?
“Five years’ experience” plus “a driver’s license.”
So we can use the expression – “in addition.”
Roza
▶︎ Next example.
・My wife refused to talk to me. On top of that, she even made me sleep
on the sofa.
Chris
▶︎ OK. Carrying on.
・My new job is interesting and stimulating. What’s more, I get to travel
to many countries.
Roza
▶︎ OK, guys. I think that’s enough examples.
So let’s skip the last one.
Chris
▶︎ Well done, guys. Great effort.
Roza
▶︎ Excellent work.
Ending
Onishi
▶︎ Besides, I’ll be traveling with my boyfriend then.
Chris.
▶︎ I know. You’re just practicing, right?
Onishi
▶︎ No! I’m just being scared.
Chris
▶︎ OK.
Roza
▶︎ That was definitely loaded statement in today’s dialogue.
Words and Phrases
① in-depth
👉徹底した、詳細な
② loaded statement
👉裏のある発言
