Lesson ８１名詞を過去分詞で説明する

今までの道のり

▶︎英語は「配置の言葉」
– 語順は「基本文型」と「修飾語順規則」によって決まる。
– Lesson 1 から 9 までは「修飾語順規則」を扱いました。

▶︎Lesson 11 からは Lesson 40までは
「基本文型」の基本を学んできました。

▶︎Lesson 31 から Lesson 53 までは、
節・to不定詞・動詞-ing形・動詞原形・過去分詞の拡張について勉強し、
Lesson 54, 56 では「リポート文の拡張」を学習しました。

▶︎Lesson 57 〜 59 で「命令文」と「there 文」を扱いました。

▶︎７月号からは、「説明ルール」で、
「文の説明」「動詞句の説明」「形容詞＋to不定詞」「名詞の説明」を終了。

▶︎８月号は、他の「名詞の説明」の仕方に入ります。

Opening で

Roza
▶︎Hey, everyone. Akino Roza here. Chris!
What happened to your table?

Chris
▶︎Hi, everybody! Chris McVay here. Well, Roza,
I was going to ask you the same thing, because your desk
is a real mess.

Dialogue で

① Apparently
👉難しく思えますが、これは appear「見える」の副詞の形。
つまり「見たところ」というわけです。

② break-in
👉これは「窃盗」というわけです。
break – ドアとか壁とか何らかのものを破って中に入る
– そうした感じです。

③ over the weekend
👉金曜日の晩から、土曜日、日曜日にかけて。
※over -「上にアーチ」「上に円弧」のイメージの前置詞でしたね。

④ mess について
O：Ah 〜, Roza. Could you explain this word “mess”?
R：Sure. So a mess is like things are scattered all over the place.
It’s not neat, it’s a shambles, you know, kind of like your office.

※ a shambles
👉混乱(のあと、場面)、てんやわんや

⑤ nobody was hurt
👉 hurt は「傷つける」という動詞です。それが、受動態で使われて
「傷つけられる」つまり「ケガをしなかった」ということです。
◎この nobody「誰も〜ない」というわけですが、この単語
なかなか上手に使える学習者はいません。しっかりマスターしましょう。

After the dialogue

R：Oh, NO! My Radio Eikaiwa textbook is missing.
O：OH 〜, it’s good that nobody was hurt.

– there’s any information gap that needs to be filled. And in this case,
we’re going to fill it with the past particle.
– Luckily, the things stolen – “stolen” explains what kind of things.

👉過去分詞
