発言のタイプ別おすすめ表現を多数学びます。
などへとゆっくり進めていきます。

実例あげて取り上げていきます。

👉アドバイスする③ アドバイスに使える意外な表現
▶︎アドバイスに使える「意外な表現」を練習しましょう。

会話の場面

登場人物

・高校生のレンジ (Renji)
・家庭教師のアオイ (Aoi)

状況

・家庭教師のアオイのおかげで、レンジは歴史が大好きになったみたいで、ひょっと
したら、大学で歴史を専攻するかも。

Opening で

Roza
▶︎ Hey, guys. This is Akino Roza. Ready for today’s lesson?

David
▶︎ And I’m David Evans. Let’s have fun today, guys.

Dialogue で

① I’m ready for it.【ready と for のコンビネーション】
👉さあ、ready と前置詞 for が結びついていましたね。
ready for – for は「向かって」▶︎「〜に向かって準備ができている」
だから、このコンビネーション、強固なコンビネーションになるわけです。

② And the month August is named after him.【同格表現】
👉さあ、ここで the month と August – これが同格表現として
出てきていますね。the month の説明として、August が来ているわけです。
▶︎もちろん、the month of August と of をつけても構いませんよ。
こちらも同格表現です。

③ Have you ever thought of becoming a history professor?
【現在完了形の経験用法】
👉さあ、ここで Have you ever 〜？という形が出てきましたね。
現在完了形の経験用法の使い方です。ever – at any time ですね。
「いつの時でも構わないんだけど」-これが経験に結びついているわけなんです。

④ Well, I’m interested in history now, thanks to you.【熟語】
👉さあ、thanks to you – thanks to 〜というフレーズを覚えといてください。
「〜のおかげで」という意味です。

⑤ If I were in your shoes, I‘d consider majoring in history in college.
【仮定法の would と major in】
👉 I would consider「考えるしょうね」というわけです。
👉そして、major in というフレーズが出てきました。これは「〜を専攻する」
というフレーズです。

⑥ I might. 【may と might の違い】
👉 may は、50%50%の可能性です。
might は「ひょっとすると〜するかもしれない」少し可能性が下がる、という
わけですね。

▶︎ OK, guys. So today we’ll be talking about intonation and pitch.

David
▶︎ All right. The first part of these sentences, you have a choice.
Will you use “rising intonation” or “falling intonation”?
Rising intonation is more casual, and falling intonation is more serious.
Let’ listen to each. Are you up? All right. Let’s get to it!
・If I were in your shoes, I’d consider majoring in history in college.
・If I were in your place, I’d consider majoring in history in college.

Roza
▶︎ OK. Let’s do a few more.
Let’s try rising intonation with a high pitch for the first one.
・If I were you, I’d be more frugal.
Great! Let’s try the next one with a low pitch and falling intonation.
・If I were you, I wouldn’t eat outside all the time.
Do you see the difference?

▶︎ OK. Now let’s listen to my intonation, and see if you can tell which I use.
・If it were me, I’d find another job.
・If it were me, I’d get a bigger house.
・If it were me, I”d ask more questions.
