👉すすめる② 食べ物をすすめる
▶︎使用頻度の高い、「食べ物をすすめる」状況での表現を学びましょう。
会話の場面

・キャスパー (Casper)
・動画制作ワークショップで知り合ったアイリーン (Aileen)
状況
・キャスパーが再び、飼い猫・ウミ (Umi)の動物チャンネルを成功させました。
その成功を祝うホームパーティにアイリーンを招き、話をしています。
Opening で
Roza
▶︎ Hey, everyone. This is Akino Roza.
David
▶︎ And I’m David Evans. Today’s topic’s already got me hungry.
So let’s jump right in.
Dialogue で
① Casper, thank you for inviting me to your party. 【理由を表す for】
👉 thank you for … この for は理由を表す for でしたね。
もちろん前置詞ですから、後ろに動詞句的内容が来る場合には、動詞 ing形と
なります。inviting me to your party となっていましたね。
② Right, as opposed to an online meeting.【as opposed to 〜】
👉さあ、as opposed to 〜 というフレーズが出ていましたね。
「〜とは対照的に」というフレーズです。
③ I’m glad [節] so many people came today.【リポート文の形】
👉さあ、I’m glad の後ろに節を置いたリポート文の形ですね。
I’m glad の内容を後ろに置いた節が展開しています。
④ Thanks to that class, my video channel has improved a lot.
【 接続詞の働きをする thanks to 〜】
👉さあ、ここでは Thanks to 〜. というフレーズが出てきました。これは
接続詞の働きをしていますね。「〜のおかげで」というわけです。
⑤ I love your channel with your cat. 【 with のニュアンス】
👉この with ですね、your channel with your cat「猫が出てくる」「猫が登場
している」これを with で言えるかどうか、という所が僕はやっぱり英語上級者かどうか
を分けるポイントだと思います。しっかりと練習しておきましょう。

from different countries. It’s very common when having house parties in
America to serve hors d’oeuvres in different countries.
So let’s try them all out.
Roza
▶︎ So would you guys like to start the practice? Let’s go.
David
▶︎ Here’s the first.
・Would you like a samosa? I made them myself.
・Would you like a samosa? You must try one.
Roza
▶︎ Good. Let’s continue.
・Would you care for some coffee or tea?
・Would you care for some soup?
David
▶︎ These next three are a little more casual. Let’s try.
・Care for some bourbon? I’ve got the good stuff.
・Care to try my home-made hummus? It’s so good.
・There’s salsa if you’re interested.
Roza
▶︎ You know, I love salsa. But not as much as I love how our listeners
did excellent work.
David
▶︎ Very good!

▶︎ Oh, yeah, they look delicious.
