Master Business Words of Foreign Origin – quota
◎ quota「割り当て」
▶︎日本語での「クォータ制」- 「女性に一定の比率を割り当てる仕組み」
これは英語の quota (割り当て)からきています。
※英語の quota は、
・これだけ最低限必要という「下限」
・あるいは、最大限これを超えてはならないという「上限」を数字で示す時に
使われます。
[1]「割り当て」
・There has been a discussion going on about introducing a gender quota system.
[2]「輸入割り当て・輸入枠」関係者の間では IQ (Import Quota) と言うこともあり
・The government has decided to impose quotas on car imports.
[3] 「移民を制限する文脈で – 上限」
・There are plans to introduce quotas on the number of immigrants entering the country.
[4] 「(営業などで課せられる)ノルマ」
・If I achieve my quota, I’ll be able to get a handsome bonus.
