発言のタイプ別おすすめ表現を多数学びます。

▶︎７月も６月に引き続き、「発言タイプ」についてで
人をある方向に「動かす」言語活動の②です。-

👉指示⑩ 禁止する
▶︎「禁止」は、注意の延長線上。「できない」ということ。

会話の場面

登場人物

・ヤヨイ (Yayoi)
・同僚のジョナス (Jonas)

状況

・ヤヨイがサンフランシスコ出張から帰ってきて、ジョナスと話をしています。
ジョナスは、プレゼンのすごい無料のソフトをダウンロードとしたと言うのですが…

Opening で

Roza
▶︎ Hey, everyone. Akino Roza here.

David
▶︎ And I’m David Evans. All right, everyone. Let’s get started.

Dialogue で

① It’s good to be back. 【よく使われる表現 -まとめて覚えましょう】
👉もちろん、It 〜 to … の文なんですけれども、
「戻って来られてうれしい」まあ、そうした気持ちを表す非常に、標準的な文
ですね。まとめて覚えておきましょう。

② I need your help with a lot of stuff.【stuff のニュアンス】
👉さあ、ここで a lot of stuff という表現が出てきましたね。
stuff – thing のゆるい表現です。漠然と「もの・こと」そうした内容ですね。

③ Oh, by the way, I downloaded some great free software for
presentations.【by the way の機能】
👉 by the way「ところで」- 話題を軽く転換するフレーズですね。

④ Yes, the IT department announced it. 【announce の意味】
👉さあ、announce という動詞が出てきました。「公表する・発表する・告知する」
という動詞ですね。覚えておきましょう。

▶︎ So for the phrases we’ll practice today, the words themselves are very
strong. So you don’t need to put too much emphasis on them.
Let’s practice together. Here we go!

▶︎ Great! Now this next example is not contracted, which gives an even
stronger feel to the sentence. Let’s keep that in mind as we practice.
・You must not use portable media. It’s against company policy. ×２

David
▶︎ That’s a good point, Roza.
When you can’t use a contraction, but deliberately don’t, it really strengthens
the phrase. Let’s keep practicing.
・You may not use these restrooms. They are for the customers.

▶︎ Great. And our last example.
・Smoking is not allowed here. See the sign? ×２

David
▶︎ All right, everyone. Great work, today.

▶︎ Great job, guys.

Ending

Onishi
▶︎ Hey, guys. “You’re not supposed to” is a softer expression than “must not,”
or “don’t,” right?

David
▶︎ Yes, that’s correct. When I don’t want to come across as strict or strong
as “may not” or “must not,” I’ll go with “not supposed to.”

Roza
▶︎ Yeah, for example, don’t be so boring in your ending. Versus, Sensei,
you’re not supposed to be boring in your ending.
Don’t you feel better with the second one?

Onishi
▶︎ Both harsh, right?
