2月のテーマは接続詞  発言の流れを作る

👉2月は、1月に引き続き接続詞ついて学習します。

Lesson 219  結果のフロー ②

結果のフロー▶︎ so, and の接続詞だけではなく ….
– result を用いたフレーズ、consequence、end up などもあります。

Opening で

Roza
▶︎ Hey, everyone. Akino Roza here.

Chris
▶︎ Hi, guys. Chris McVay here. You know, I’ve often wondered how long 
 it will take to appropriate Sensei’s openings.

Roza
▶︎ At least two hours.

Dialogue で

① Bill, do you have a minute?
👉さあ、この do you have a minute? これは、まとめて覚えておきましょう。
「お時間ありますか」という表現ですね。

② I was just practicing for the upcoming tour.
👉さあ、ここで upcoming という形容詞が出てきましたね。
「近づきつつある」という形容詞。
Basically this is “coming up,” isn’t it?
C: That’s right.
▶︎ coming up と同じ意味を持っているというわけですね。

Actually, that’s what I need to talk to you about.
👉さあ、actually「実は」- 相手にとって意外な内容を持ち出す時に使う
決まりの単語です。

④ He‘s in the hospital now.
👉 He is – be動詞の後ろに in the hospital 前置詞句をポンと置いて、説明語句と
しています。説明語句には、さまざまな表現を使うことができますよ。
しっかりこの文も練習しておきましょう。

How long will it take to heal?
👉さあ、ここで how long「どのぐらい長く」- 大きな wh語で文を始めていますね。

I can’t believe this!
👉この文、全体をしっかりと覚えておきましょう。
使う機会はあるかもしれませんよ。

Practice

▶︎ OK, guys. It’s practice time again.
Today we’re concentrating on phrases related to consequences.
“Consequences” literally means something that follows.
So you do something, and something follows.
So let’s begin with that phrase “as a result.”
・As a result of hours of practice, her dance performance was magnificent.
She does as a practice, what follows, and a great improvement in her performance. Let’s try that once more together.
・As a result of hours of practice, her dance performance was magnificent.

Roza
▶︎ Let’s continue to consequences.
・If you go on like this, there’ll be serious consequences.
One more time.
・If you go on like this, there’ll be serious consequences.
And let’s try one more.
・He didn’t study at all, consequently he failed the exam. ×2

Chris
▶︎ OK. And the final phrase. It’s a very useful verb, “end up.”
So keep practicing this, and get to used to it.
Here’s a couple of examples.
・He didn’t study from nothing, and ended up a billionaire.
Onc more.
・He didn’t study from nothing, and ended up a billionaire.
And our final one.
・After backpacking for two years, I ended up teaching English in Japan.

▶︎ You know, I think these sentences might have been a bit difficult and long.
But our listeners ended up doing great, didn’t they?

Ending

▶︎ You know what, the other day I was driving following the “カーナビ,”
but ended up in the middle of nowhere.

Chris
▶︎ Well, actually every time I choose to use the “カーナビ,” it takes me on
