👉1月は、限定詞・名詞関連・接続詞のイメージについて学習します。
今週から、「接続詞」を扱っています。
Lesson 199 主要接続詞④：because
Opening で
Roza
▶︎ Hey, everyone. This is Akino Roza. Are you ready for today’s lesson?
Because we’re about to get started.

▶︎ Hi, guys. Chris McVay here. Let’s get started.
Dialogue で
① Congratulations!
👉さあ、「おめでとう」と言う時 Congratulations! の -s を除かないで
下さいね。「お祝いがいっぱい」だから「おめでとう」につながる、-s が
必要なんです。
② It was such a relief.
👉さあ、It was such a relief. という文が出てきました。
この such は、これ強調の使われ方をしていますよね。「すっかり安心た」「すごく
安心した」- まあそうした印象です。
③ It’s a nice photo of you.
👉さあ、It’s a nice photo – この a nice photo の説明をする感触で of you
というのが入っているんですね。
▶︎ of というのは意味のうすい前置詞です。名詞でその前を説明する感触、
それだけです。a nice photo と言ってから、「あなたのね」という説明を
しているわけです。

Today let’s look at another connecting word, “because.”
Now the main feature of “because” is as always we should focus on
the rhythm of the sentence, A 〜 B.
And in this case, “because” introduces a strong reason or cause.
So we have A …. because – reason or cause.
So that flow, let’s keep that flow in mind.
・I broke up with her because she’s so self-centered.
I broke up with her → flow → because – reason: she’s so self-centered.
So let’s try once more.
・I broke up with her because she’s so self-centered.

▶︎ Let’s continue.
・I married him not because he’s rich, but because he’s kind.
So we have “two” in there, right? Let’s do that one ore time.
