Lesson 173 限定詞③：the のさまざまな使い方
👉 the のイメージ「ひとつに決まる」▶︎さまざまな使い方があります
Opening で
Roza
▶︎ Hey, everyone. Akino Roza here. Let’s get started.
Chris
▶︎ Chris McVay here. Let’s enjoy our English practice together.
Dialogue で
① Please have a seat.
👉 have a seat というフレーズが出て来ましたね。
これは「席につく」という意味合いで使われるフレーズです。
② You’ve picked the right place.
👉そしてここでは、You’ve picked the right place. という言い方が
出て来ました。You have picked とのことですけれども、
「あなたは正しい場所を選んで、今その選んだところにいる」
というですね、現在に焦点のある使い方です。
▶︎ pick は「つまみあげる」という動詞。そこから「選ぶ」
という使い方が生まれているわけです。

Today we’re going to continue looking at the word “the.”
We’re gonna give you lots of examples and all of them have
the same unique “これっきゃない” image.

・She’s gone to the bank.
・She’s gone to the supermarket.
