前置詞の学習が始まりました。

👉 on ▶︎「テーブルの上にボールが乗っている」というイメージが
– テーブルがボールに「支えている」のように解釈される

Opening

Dialogue で

① we should move to California.
👉 move to 〜「〜に引っ越す」というフレーズ。
しっかり覚えて下さいね。

② What about your job?
👉さあ、この What about 〜？というフレーズ。
「〜はどうですか」というフレーズですけれども、基本的には
「何か触れてはいない、会話の要点についてただす」表現なんですね。
ここでは、「サンディエゴに住むようになるのは、それはうれしいけれども、
でもあなたの仕事は考えた？」そうしたニュアンスで使われています。

③ I’ll look for a job there.
👉 look for もちろん for は「求めて」のニュアンスです。
「求めて、目をやる」そこから、look for は「探す」となります。

④ I know somebody who □ runs a Japanese restaurant in San Diego.
👉さあ、somebody 以下は、これはもちろん関係代名詞節修飾となっています。
who 以下の節では、runs の主語が欠けていますが、その欠けている主語と
somebody がカチッと組み合わされて、「サンディエゴで日本食レストランを
経営している – 誰かを知っている」という文となっているわけです。

This time the image is of “support.” So Onishi sensei mentioned a table.
Here’s a table, and you can see put lots of things on – the table is supporting
so that keep this main image of “table and support” in your mind
as we practice. Are you ready?

▶︎ And I know we can count on you to think only in English, right, guys?

▶︎ You sure can. Here we go.
