「日本語を経由せず、英語を使う力」を養います。
Lesson 58 心理に関わる動詞：wonder
👉 wonder のイメージは「大きなクエスチョンマーク(?)が頭に浮かんでいる」
※ Lesson 54 から心理に関する動詞の学習に入っています。

▶︎ Of course, they will, Chris.
Dialogue で
① Wasn’t today’s lecture interesting?
👉さあ、ここでは否定疑問文が使われてますね。
「おもしろくなかった？」とですね、相手の同意を求める気持ちが
隠れています。
② I saw an older Asian woman in his office the other day.
👉さあ、ここで I saw an older Asian woman in his office という文が
出てきましたね。目的語説明型です。- an older Asian woman が
in his office にいるところを、見た – というわけですね。
③ Some friend he met a long time ago in Mexico.
👉さあ、ここで some friend という、some＋単数形 の形が出てきましたね。
この some のイメージはですね、「いくつかの」ではなく、「何か、漠然と、
ぼんやり」しているんですね。つまり、ここではジェシカは「どっかの友達さ」
って言ってるわけですね。つまり、言いたくない、言う必要もない、といった、
そうした嫌な感情が込められた some なんですね。
④ I think they had a relationship once.
👉さあ、ここで have a relationship というフレーズが出てきましたね。
「関係がある」「つきあっている」- そうしたフレーズの過去形が出てきた
わけです。

The thing is you don’t know something, but you want to know it. And
therefore you ask yourself a question. And that’s the basic image of
“wonder.”
So let’s practice together.

OK. So you don’t know, but you want to know, and that’s where the wonder
comes in. Once more, after me.
