– 語順は「基本文型」と「修飾語順規則」によって決まる。

・「形容詞」「副詞」を終え、先週に引き続き、今週も「not」を取り上げています。

Lesson 117 否定③：強い表現とのコンビネーション

Opening で

Roza
▶︎Akino Roza です。

Chris
▶︎Hi, guys. Chris McVay here. Roza, can you give me
a hand to find a more exciting opening?

Roza
▶︎Of course, although I’m not sure how much I can help.

Chris
▶︎Yeah, OK! Well, let’s just get started then, huh.

Dialogue で

① convenient
👉「便利な」という意味の形容詞です。
しっかりと覚えましょう。

② save
👉この動詞は、「そのままでいけば失われてしまうようなものを
助ける」という感触があります。

③ prefer
👉「より好む」という意味をもつ動詞です。
「私は、pen and paper を使うことをより好むます」という文です。

④ for certain things
👉 certain という単語は「ある種の」という意味です。
話し手にはくっきりと何らかのものが見えているわけです。だけど
それをあえて口にしない、はっきりとは言わない – そうした感触が
あります。

Roza
▶︎Yeah, and you can also use it to complain about people.
For example, certain people in this room don’t follow the rules.

Chris
▶︎Yeah, that’s right. Certain people who you don’t want to mention.

Roza
▶︎Exactly.

Chris
▶︎But everybody know why they are.

Roza
▶︎Yeah, Chris and Sensei.

Ending

Onishi
▶︎So, Chris. Your handwriting is sometimes unreadable.
Do you know that?

Chris
▶︎Yes, I know. Because I’ve been told that since elementary
school. But the biggest problem is when someone asks me,
“What? What is this? What did you write?” and I can’t read
my own writing.

Roza
▶︎Chris is not really interested in writing, in a legible handwriting.
