Opening で
Roza
▶︎ Hey, everyone. Akino Roza here.
Chris
▶︎ Hi, guys. Chris McVay here.
Roza, you can be honest, right? Do I need to go on a diet?
Roza
▶︎ Yes, you eat as much food as two people.
Chris
▶︎ I didn’t want an answer, I was just practicing.
Roza
▶︎ So was I actually. It’s in the dialogue.
Chris
▶︎ Let’s go.
Dialogue で
① Wasn’t dinner delicious, Roxy?
👉否定疑問文です。意外・心外・同意を求める気持ちがそこには
隠れています。
– ここでは、同意を求める気持ちでしたね。
② but she can make light Japanese meals.
👉 light Japanese meals「あっさりした和食」
– 「軽い」というニュアンスで light が使えます。
「軽い朝食」” light breakfast ” などと言います。
③ Actually, she can make anything, 〜
👉 anything 「なんでも・どれでも」というわけです。
④ but she’s thinking about your health.
👉 think about – これは「よく考える」
「あなたの健康のことをよく考えている」そうした感触が伝わっています。
After the Dialogue
Roza
▶︎ You know what, guys?
Our textbook is as good as Chris’s cooking.
And that means it’s really good.
Practice with Roza
▶︎OK, guys. Now we’ve been doing “as 〜 as …” for a while, right?
But you might think that this key sentence is difficult, because
it says “Mom is as good at cooking as you are,” so it seems a little
long.
But think of “good at cooking” as one unit, OK?
That would help you say it smoothly.
Now you just put it between the “as 〜 as.”
Let’s practice together.
Mom is as good at cooking as you are.
One more time!
Mom is as good at cooking as you are.
Perfect!
Ending
Onishi
▶︎ I’m not as good at table as Chris.
Roza
▶︎ He played for his university.
Onishi
▶︎ Yeah, that’s right!
Words and Phrases
① No wonder.
👉〜でも不思議ではない・どおりで〜なわけだ
② as 〜 as possible
👉可能な限り〜
③ as 〜 as necessary
👉必要なだけ〜
④ as 〜 as any …
👉どの…にも劣らず・まけないぐらい〜
これで、
Lesson 216 は終了!
