Master Business Words of Foreign Origin – best effort
◎ best effort「最大限の努力」
[1]インターネット回線の通信速度に使われる「ベストエフォート」は、
⇒ 回線業者が最大限努力したときの速度でインターネットに接続すること
– Communications are provided on a best-effort basis.
[1] 保証はできないけど、やるだけのことはやる – という努力目標を表す
– give one’s best efforts to 〜
– make one’s best efforts to 〜
[2] 英語の best effort は、
単純に努力すると言う意味ではなく、金銭面も含めてあらゆる手段を講じる
という意味で ⇒より履行義務が強いため、特に契約書の場合は、
「努力の中身」に気をつけること
– The buyer shall use its best efforts to conclude the sales contract
for this property.
◎ 少しトーンを認めたい場合には、reasonable effort(合理的な努力)を使った方が良い
🟠 best effort は「精神論だけではない」という点を意識しましょう。

Takashi seems to have got a good response from his presentation.
And I think this was because he did a good job of answering questions
throughly but with simple answers.
I would say, he came off as knowledgeable and trustworthy.
Answering questions well is quite a skill.
