Words and Phrases
● worth 〜ing ▶︎〜する価値がある
– worth trying であれば「やってみる価値はある」
Alternative Expressions – 調子に乗ったり、油断したりしないよう忠告するフレーズ
◎ Don’t get too excited.
👉つい舞い上がってしまう時には、こう言えますね
◎ rest one’s laurels
👉「栄光の上であぐらをかく」という意味です。
– laurel は「月桂樹」と言う意味です。
– laurel wreath は、古代ギリシャで競技の勝者に授与された月桂樹の冠
のこと。これは「栄光・功績」の代名詞です。
◎ lower our guard
👉 lower 〜 guard で「ガードを低くする」という言い方で、脇を甘くする
感じです。
– drop one’s guard と言うこともできます。
