12月のテーマも、判断を表現する

👉今年度は…
「感謝したい」「頼み事をしたい」といった、
発言のタイプ別おすすめ表現を多数学びます。
などへとゆっくり進めていきます。

◎12月は
▶︎先月に引き続き「発言タイプ」ー【判断を表現する】を勉強します。
「失敗」「成功」「類似・同一・相違」や「決定」「決意表明」「相手の都合を尋ねる」など
「これから」に関わる表現を学んでいきましょう。

Lesson 174 発言タイプ：これから⑥ 決める５

👉これから⑥ 決める５ー尻込みする相手を鼓舞する
▶︎今回は、「決意表明」につきもののフレーズを学びましょう。

会話の場面

登場人物

・高校教師のジェッツ先生 (Ms. Jets) とスミス先生 (Mr. Smith)

状況

・ジェッツ先生とスミス先生が、冬休みの計画を話していますが、スミス先生は以前から
ウィーンに行きたいと思っているようですが …

Opening で

Roza
▶︎ Connecticut.

David
▶︎ Connecticut.

Roza
▶︎ This is Akino Roza.

David
▶︎ And I’m David Evans.

Dialogue で

① I was thinking about going to Vienna. 【進行形をとる場合の think の意味】
👉さあ、I was thinking about 〜, と進行形が使われていますね。
この形で think が使われたときには、「考える」という意味で使っています。
「私は〜について考えていたんですよ」というわけです。

② But everything’s fine now, right? 【 fine の意味】
👉さあ、ここで fine という形容詞が出てきました。「問題ない」というわけです。

Practice

▶︎ OK. It’s time to practice, Many of these sentences are set phrases. So try to memorize
them as much, so that you can easily take them out and use them in your conversations.

David
▶︎ All right. It’s time to practice. If not now, when?
OK. Here’s our first.
・If not now, when?
・Seize the day.

Roza
▶︎ Continuing on.
・You’ll never get a better opportunity.
Now this next one is very common.
・There’s no time like the present.

David
▶︎ Good work, so far. These phrases are used to encourage and give a gentle push
to people. So put some passion into your words.
・If you don’t do it, who will?
・If you don’t do it, someone else will.

▶︎ Let’s continue to our last couple.
・Who better than you?
・What better time than now?
