10月のテーマは、さまざまな応答・知識

👉今年度は…
「感謝したい」「頼み事をしたい」といった、
発言のタイプ別おすすめ表現を多数学びます。
などへとゆっくり進めていきます。

◎10月は
▶︎「発言タイプ」ー【さまざまな応答・知識】を勉強します。
「応答」は相手の発言に対するスタンダードな受け答えです。
「知識」はさまざまな「知っているよ」の伝え方。どちらもとっても重要な発言タイプです。

👉好意的な発言への応答② 感謝を示しながら辞退する
▶︎相手を傷つけないように、好意的な申し出を辞退する表現です。

会話の場面

登場人物

・ロキシー (Roxy) とその父親 (Dad)

状況

・ロキシーはまたイギリスに戻りたいと父親に話すのですが ….

Opening で

Roza
▶︎ Sensei, you should get a part-time job.

Onishi
▶︎ Why’s that?

Roza
▶︎ Your career as a comedian isn’t working out.

David
▶︎ And I’m David Evans. Ah, David Evans. Let’s get to it.

Dialogue で

① How’s college life?【 how の意味】
👉 how – なかなか奥深い wh 語ですね。ここでは、「様子」をたずねています。

② But this time I’ll pay for a plane ticket. 【 pay for の意味】
👉 pay for 〜「〜に向けて支払いをする」というわけですね。

③ That’s why I want to get a part-time job. 【 That’s why 〜. の意味】
👉たいへん使われるフレーズですね。「それが〜の理由だ」というフレーズです。

④ Why don’t you teach English?【軽い提案をする場合は、Why don’t you 〜？】
👉　さあ、Why don’t you 〜？「軽い提案」を
「〜したい」というわけです。

Practice

Roza
▶︎ OK, guys. It’s time to practice. Today I want you to focus on the flow, and really
just enjoy practicing.

David
▶︎ That’s really good advice, Roza. We don’t say it enough, but we really do want to
enjoy the practice. So let’s jump right in.

Roza
▶︎ This time again, we’re only going to be practicing the answers, not the questions.

David
▶︎ Here’s our first.
・Thank you, but I don’t want to impose on you.
・That’s a good suggestion, but I actually don’t have a license.

Roza
▶︎ Let’s continue.
・No, thank you. I’m already full, I’m afraid.
・No thank you. I would, but I’m afraid I just ate.

David
▶︎ Good work so fa. Let’s continue.
・Thanks for asking, but I have plans this evening, Maybe next time?

Roza
▶︎ When you refuse an invite, it’s a good idea to add an alternative date
like here, “Maybe next time?”
And our last example.
・I appreciate the offer, but I’d like to handle this myself.
And one more.
・It’s kind of you to offer, but I’d like to handle this myself.

David
▶︎ These aer so much better than just saying no. Don’t you think so?

Roza
▶︎ Yeah, great point, David. You guys did fantastic!
