2月のテーマは接続詞 発言の流れを作る
👉２月は、1月に引き続き接続詞ついて学習します。
Lesson 211 主要接続詞⑬ ：as -「＝」に基づくそのほかの使い方
① as you know：あなたも知っているとおり ※「＝」の意味で使われている
② as mentioned before「先に述べたとおり」
③ as agreed「同意されたとおりに」
Opening で

Chris
▶︎ Well, you know, as a native Scotland, I definitely recommend it.
It’s very difficult to imitate the Scottish accent, you know?

Dialogue で
① I’ve lost count.
👉さあ、「数えきれない」- これを英作文するのは大変ですね、
lose count – これは「数えきれなくなる」という表現。そして、今のことを
表しているので、I’ve lost count. というわけです。
▶︎さあ、こうした表現をですね、１つ１つ文法的に組み立てるのは、至難のわざ
です。しっかりとまとめて覚えれば、簡単に口から出てきますよ。暗記・暗唱を
欠かさずにお願いします。
② I definitely recommend it.
👉さあ、definitely recommend というフレーズが出てきましたね。
「絶対推薦する」- 非常に強く recommend を強調した表現となっています。
③ What’s that behind you?
👉この文は、基本的に What’s that? と言っているんですね。
What’s that? そして、that を説明する感触で behind you とつけ足しているわけ
ですね。
④ Oh, you’ve noticed.
👉さあ、notice という単語が出てきました。「気づく」というわけですね。
何らかの感覚の領域にパンと何かが入ってくる、そこで「あっ」と気づく
– これが、notice という単語のイメージです。

And to help you really grasp the native speaker feeling for this word,
keep the image of “equality” in your mind.

・As a native of Scotland, I definitely recommend it.
・As your doctor, I suggest you should 〜.
・As your teacher, I suggest you should 〜.
・As your partner, I suggest you should 〜.
・As your father, I suggest you should 〜.
So as – doctor, as – teacher, as – partner, as – father; this equality is strongly
there.

・I regard my new job as a big challenge.
Here too, “my new job” equals “big challenge.”
