Opening で

▶︎ Ah 〜, let’s just get started. Akino Roza here.

Chris
▶︎ Chris McVay here. It’s good to associate one word with
a completely different word. That helps you remember. So good example.
Let’s get started.

Dialogue で

① we need to get some nice furniture for the apartment.
👉さあ、furniture という単語が出てきましたね。「家具」という単語です。もちろん、furniture – これは数えられない名詞、不可算名詞です。some がついているのに、 -s が
ついていませんよね。「家具」というのは、椅子とか机とかテーブル、それらを
全てを含む単語なんですね。従って、決まった形がない – そこから不可算名詞と
なるわけです。

② Sure, but there’s no rush.
👉 there’s no rush. もう、まとめて覚えてくださいね。
「あわてる必要はありません」という文。

③ He’s picky about furniture.
👉 pick という単語は「選ぶ」という動詞として使うことができましたね。
そして、この picky – これは「こだわりが強い・選り好みをする」という意味で
使うことができます。

Today we’re focusing on the word “just.” And “just” implies “perfect fit,”
“a perfect match.” You could be talking about time, people, situations,
whatever. Perfect fit, OK?
So bear that in mind, let’s begin the practice.
