前置詞の学習です。

👉 beyond のイメージ▶︎「〜を超えて」の位置関係を表す前置詞

Opening

▶︎ Hey, everyone. Akino Roza here.

Chris
▶︎ Ha 〜. Chris McVay here. I said it before, but that was not
really funny, you know? But we all laughed.

Dialogue で

① What’s your status, Mars Base?
👉さあ、status という単語が出てきました。
これは「状況」を意味しています。

② We are a little shaken up, but we’re fine.
👉さあ、ここで shaken up というフレーズが出てきました。
shake up – これは「揺さぶる・動揺させる」というわけです。
主語が「私たち」- それが「動揺させられている」というわけですから、
shaken up 「過去分詞」を使います。

③ Is there any damage to the base?
👉 any は「なんでも・どれでも」というわけですね。
「どんな小さな被害でも言ってくださいよ」まあ、そうした気持ちが
表れています。

④ Stand by, Mars Base.
👉さあ、ここの stand by というフレーズ。
もちろん「近くに立っている」というわけですから、「待機する」
という意味につながっています。
– 何か問題が生じた時に、すぐに手を出せる位置に – という
わけですね。

Today’s word is “beyond.” The basic image of “beyond” is going over
or further than a certain boundary or limit.
You might be interested to know that in British English.
We sometimes say “It’s all beyonder” meaning further than the eye can see.
So that notion of “beyond” meaning over a border, over a boundary is present.
So let’s practice lots of examples.
・beyond the lake
・beyond this valley
・beyond the horizon
・beyond twenty-four hours
