Lesson 31 come の方向・go の方向
Opening で
Roza
▶︎ Hey, everyone. Akino Roza here. Let’s get started.
Chris
▶︎ Chris McVay here. Oh, Roza, I just remembered.
Roza
▶︎ Remembered what?
Chris
▶︎ I just forgot.
Roza
▶︎ Well, I guess…
Chris
▶︎ We should ….
Roza
▶︎ go!
Chris
▶︎ Go, go, go!
Dialogue で
①Yes, of course.
② so that evening works best.
That evening works for me.
Chris
▶︎ Yeah, I think we should really recommend this expression.
When talking about the schedule, fixing the schedule to meet, for example,
usually most learners would say, “That’s OK,” or “That’s fine.” But this kind
of new expression if you like, I think you should get used to using that,
it’s really good, cool.
③ We should have the party at a nice place.
– at a nice place
After the Dialogue
Roza
▶︎ Oh, I just remembered, I haven’t bought my Radio Eikaiwa
textbook yet.
Chris
▶︎ No problem. I’ll pick you up, we can get one,
Practice
Chris
▶︎ OK, guys. It’s practice time. Now it’s sometimes difficult to know
whether you should choose “come” and “go.” For today’s practice,
let’s focus on “come.”
And the focus with “come” is on the speaker’s destination.
So for example, dinner’s ready. OK, I’m coming.
Where is the destination?
It’s the dinner table, right?
Therefore you should “come.” If you use “go – I’m going,” it will mean to some
unknown place where you’re going out, for example.
So with this feeling in mind, let’s practice together.
Roza
▶︎ And remember. Don’t use Japanese.
Chris
▶︎ Dinner’s ready.
Roza
▶︎ OK! I’m coming,
Chris
▶︎ Try!
So you can feel that, right?
The destination is the dinner table. So we’re using “come.”
So let’s practice that once more.
▶︎ Dinner’s ready.
Roza
▶︎ OK! I’m coming,
Roza
▶︎ Now for the second example, it’s the same thing,
The restaurant is the approaching point.
So you can come to the restaurant. Let’s try.
Chris
▶︎ What time can you come to the restaurant?
Roza
▶︎ I cam come about six. Is that OK?
Once more.
Chris
▶︎ What time can you come to the restaurant?
Roza
▶︎ I cam come about six. Is that OK?
Fantastic, guys.
Chris
▶︎ Well done, guys.
Ending
Roza
▶︎ Where has Sensei gone?
Chris
▶︎ I don’t know. He’s just disappeared.
