Lesson 73 形容詞＋to不定詞①：形容詞と「これから」のto不定詞

▶︎英語は「配置の言葉」
– 語順は「基本文型」と「修飾語順規則」によって決まる。
– Lesson 1 から 9 までは「修飾語順規則」を扱いました。

▶︎Lesson 11 からは Lesson 40までは
「基本文型」の基本を学んできました。

▶︎Lesson 31 から Lesson 53 までは、
節・to不定詞・動詞-ing形・動詞原形・過去分詞の拡張について勉強し、
Lesson 54, 56 では「リポート文の拡張」を学習しました。

▶︎Lesson 57 〜 59 で「命令文」と「there 文」を扱いました。

▶︎７月号からは、「説明ルール」で、
「文の説明」、「動詞句の説明」を終え、「形容詞＋to不定詞」に入ります。

① Excuse me, do you speak English?
👉 Do you speak English? という聞き方と Can you speak English?
という聞き方もありますよね。この２つ、どんなことを気をつけたら
いいんでしょうか。

▶︎Well, from a native speaker to a nonnative speaker, saying
“Can you speak English?” sounds a bit condescending.
But from a nonnative speaker to a native speaker, it’s fine.

② You’re in luck.
👉 in luck 「運がいい」というフレーズ。
頻繁に使います。しっかりと覚えましょう。

③ a kind of noodle dish
👉「一種の麺料理」だというわけです。

④ Sounds delicious.
👉もちろんこれは主語がない、オーバーラッピング形です。
「美味しそうに聞こえる」というわけです。

※ condescending
👉見下すような、上から目線の

◎形容詞＋to不定詞①：形容詞と「これから」のto不定詞

🔴「形容詞」にも説明ルールは働きます！
・今回は、矢印(→)のイメージを持ち「これから」のニュアンスを含むto不定詞で展開
※形容詞＋to不定詞 (これから〜して ….)
・I’ll be happy to take you there.

I’ll be happy to take you there.
Here we have an adjective “happy,” but if I say “I’ll be happy,”
you want to know “Why?” “Where is it leading to?”
So that’s where we use “to infinitive.”
・I’ll be happy – to take you there.
・I’ll be happy – to take you there.
With that feeling, let’s practice it together.
・I’ll be happy to take you there.
