会話の場面

※俳句クラブに来ています

状況

・天気の話から始まります。- 梅雨ですね。そして俳句の話へ。

Opening で

Roza
▶︎ Hey, everyone. This is Akino Roza. Hey, David. Why don’t we go to
Mt. Takao? I’d like to write haiku there.

David
▶︎ Ummm. I’m a huge fan of haiku. So let’s go do that soon.
Hi, everyone. I’m David Evans. June is one of my favorite months
because l love to see the hydrangeas.

Dialogue で

① Yes, it’s rare to see the blue sky these days.【to 以下が追いかける】
👉さあ、ここでは It 〜 to … の形が出てきました。心の中に浮かんだ情景をまず
It で受けて、It’s rare「珍しいんです」というところから、文を始めるのがポイント
ですね。「何が珍しいのか」は、to 以下で後から追いかける、それが It 〜 to … の
形が持っているリズムなんですね。しっかりと身につけてください。

② Since the rainy season has started.【もうすでに – 現在完了形】
👉梅雨、これは the rainy season というわけですね。
そして、もう梅雨に入っているわけですから、has started と現在完了形を
使うことができます。

③ That’s a good idea.【使うことで会話を盛り上げる】
👉さあ、この That’s a good idea. この文ですけれども、もちろん非常に簡単な
文ですけれども、こういう肯定的な反応 – それを会話でそこかしこに散りばめる
ことが大事なんですね。そうすると、会話がどんどん盛り上がっていきます。

④ I’d like to write haiku there. 【 I’d like to は大人】
👉さあ、ここでは I’d like to 〜というフレーズが出てきました。
もちろん意味合いは、I want to 〜と同じ男ですが、少し丁寧な、大人らしい、
こう引いた感触がしてくるんですね。このフレーズ、覚えといてください。

⑤ Nice one, Cindy. 【うまいことを言った時】
👉さあ、ここの Nice one. うまいことを相手が言ったときに – Nice one.
しっかりと覚えておきましょう。

Grammar and Vocabulary

① Oh, it’s stopped raining.
👉ねえ、Roza さん。アメリカ英語では違うんですよね。
Roza ▶︎ In America, most people just use the regular past tense.
So “It’s stopped raining.”

② I haven’t been there in years.
👉ねえ、Roza さん。これはアメリカ英語でも現在完了形だよね。
Roza ▶︎ That’s right.

Practice

Roza
▶︎ OK, guys. Let’s practice giving suggestions. It’s good if you can use
a high tone when you say these sentences aloud.

David
▶︎ OK. These first three use “how about.” One is a quick “How about a picnic?”
Your second option is to use “how about” to buy time to think of your
suggestion. So let’s try this slow one first, OK?
・How about a picnic?
OK. Now let’s speed it up.
・How about a picnic?
Good. Let’s try a few more.
・How about taking the Shinkansen?
・How about we go to the zoo?
Nice work.

▶︎ Excellent. Let’s continue.
Here we use “Why don’t we 〜？” and “Maybe we can ….”
So keep that in mind. Let’s go.
・Why don’t we split the bill?
・Why don’t we ask your mother?
・Why don’t we meet at the station?
・Maybe we can meet at the station.

David
▶︎ All right. Let’s practice with “let’s.”
・Let’s dance.
・Let’s not fight.
・Let’s not argue.

Roza
▶︎ Wonderful. And one last example, I’m sure you all have heard.
・Shall we dance?
Let’s try one more time, and focus on smoothness.
・Shall we dance?
Hey, David. Shall we tell our listeners how great they did it?

David
▶︎ I think that’s a good idea. Let’s do that.
