引き続き基本動詞のイメージをつかみ
「日本語を経由せず、英語を使う力」を養います。

Lesson 77 recommend と suggest

👉 recommend ▶︎「すすめる」- 手のひらの上にのせて「これでいいじゃないかな」
👉 suggest ▶︎「こうしたらいいんじゃない？」という気軽な提案

Opening で

Roza
▶︎ Hey, everyone. Akino Roza here.

Chris
▶︎ Chris McVay here. Roza, congratulations!

Roza
▶︎ For what?

Chris
▶︎ Just practicing.

Dialogue で

① Oh, congratulations!
👉さあ、congratulations と -s がついていることに注目して下さいね。
おめでとうがいっぱいの -s 落とすことはできませんよ。

② but here’s a nice one near Shibuya Station. 　
👉さあ、ここでは nice one と one という単語が使われていましたね。
これは、もちろん apartment を繰り返さないために用いられています。

③ It is a reasonable price for this popular area.
👉 reasonable price という言い方を覚えて下さいね。
「納得の価格」「お手頃な価格」という意味ですね。
👉そして for this popular area
この for は「範囲」の for ですね。popular area を考えた時には
reasonable な、というわけです。

▶︎ Sure.

Practice

Chris
▶︎ OK, guys. It’s practice time.
“Recommend,” “suggest,” well, both are about offering your proposal
for something. But “support” is far more casual and general while
“recommend” often or usually even includes personal experience.
You recommend something because you’ve already experienced it.
OK, so with that in mind, let’s practice these together.

Roza
▶︎ I recommend thinking only in English during this practice.

Chris
▶︎ That’s the excellent recommendation, Roza. ( I know.)
So let’s do it.
・recommend vegan ramen
・recommend a firm
So you’ve already seen the film before. Therefore based on your
experience, you recommend it. Next one.
・recommend an Italian restaurant
・recommend London
And here’s the best one.
・recommend Radio Eikaiwa

・I recommend that you stop smoking.
・I recommend going there.

▶︎ OK, guys. Now let’s practice “suggest.”
・suggest a plan
・suggest Ken as the team leader
