３月のテーマは「配置の言葉」英語
👉３月号のテーマは「配置の言葉」英語 – ですが、
2月号に引き続き「比較」も扱っていきます。
– 今まで学んだ配置の知識を使って表現の場を広げていきます。

▶︎先週に続き、今週も引き続き「比較」を学びます。

① as an influential rock group
👉非常に長く、難しい単語が出てきました。
これは、もちろん influence「影響」の形容詞形です。
-「影響力のある」という形容詞ですね。しっかりと覚えましょう。
使う可能性が多々ありますよ。
② You mean like the Beatles or something?
👉 〜 or something「〜かどうか」という表現です。
よく使われる表げnです。
③ my song lyrics
👉 lyrics という名詞が出てきましたね。「歌詞」です。
④ stand the test of time
👉ここの stand は「耐える」です。
– the test of time で「時間のテストにもちこたえる」そうした所から
「時代を超えて残る」という訳になるわけです。
⑤ What’s so remarkable about them?
👉ここの remarkable という形容詞を変えたり、about の後ろの them を
変えたりすれば、非常に頻度の高い表現が出来上がります。
よく使いますね。
– You frequently use this phrase, right?

▶︎ Yeah, I mean as you said, we can replace “remarkable” with
lots of other adjectives and it works.
– “What’s so good about them?”

▶︎ Or you could say,
“What’s so interesting about it?”
⑥ the philosopher in me「私の中の哲学者」
👉小洒落たフレーズですね。みなさんも使ってみてください。
⑦ They obviously reflect the philosopher in me.
👉ここで出てきた reflect という動詞は、「反射する、反映する」という意味です。
⑧ Hey, don’t knock cats.
👉 knock は「たたく」というフレーズです。
そこから「けなす」という意味で使われているというわけです。
👉 cats について …
「猫」という種族全体を指しているので、限定詞をつけず、そして複数形で
使われている -「裸の複数形 cats」の形が出てきています。
