② 会場にノートパソコンを持っていったほうがいいですか、それともUSBだけ持って
いけばいいですか。
👉 Should I bring my laptop to the venue or just a USB?
③ 滞在中にあなたと同僚の皆さんを昼食か夕食をお誘いしたいと思うのですが、どう
思いますか。
👉 I’d like to invite you and your colleagues to lunch or dinner during my stay.

Master Business Words of Foreign Origin – scale
◎ scale「規模、物差し」
▶︎日本語では「スケールの大きい」といった形で、物事の規模や大きさという
文脈で使われますが…..
▶︎英語の scale の意味には下記のようなものがあります。
[1] スケールの大きいプロジェクト
– in large-scale projects
[2]「スケールメリット」は和製英語。英語では
– economics of scale
[3] scale は「動詞」としても使われます
– scale down：規模を縮小する
– scale up：規模を拡大する
[4] 「物差し、目盛り、段階」
– on a scale of one to ten：1から10の段階で
[5] 「体重計」「音階」
– kitchen scale：料理用のはかり
[6] 「うろこ」
[7] 動詞で「垢を取る」
※人物について「あの人はスケールが大きい」などと言う場合は、
⇨ generous (気前のいい), tolerant (寛容な),
あるいは caliber (有能な) を使って a person of high caliber などと言います。
