Review をします。
それでは第 31 週 ( 11月 Week 4 )の復習です。
※11月号の「タイトル」は、「判断を表現する」となっていて、
同様に「発言タイプ」の学習をするので、発言タイプ Review (29) とします。
発言タイプ Review (29)
・ Week 31 は、印象、安全、重要①② を学習しました。
◎今年度は「感謝したい」「頼み事をしたい」といった、発言のタイプ別
おすすめ表現を多数学びます。
※学んだ表現を上手に会話に生かすには、そもそも会話はどういった原則に
沿って行われるかの理解が欠かせません。
▶︎そこで、今月は「発言タイプ」について -「判断を表現する」を
テーマとしてます。
Lesson 151 発言タイプ：印象 印象を伝える
▶︎「〜のように見える・思える」と印象を伝える表現を学びましょう。
※あなたは、1958年の最初のキング・ジジラのフィギュアをお持ちのようです。
👉印象を伝える日常的な表現として、まず It seems that 〜. 考えずに口から出るように
まとめて「１語」として覚えましょう。
| ① look like, feel like, appear を用いた表現 – seems よりは表層的な印象 ※ It looks like this is fake. ※ It appears this is fake. – appear は「見える」look より「かっこいい言い方」 ※ It feels like this is fake. |
| ② 説明型オーバーラッピングの形を用いた表現 ※ Dave looks fantastic. / Dave seems fantastic. / Dave appears fantastic. – Dave = fantastic ※ This carpet feels nice and soft. – this carpet = nice and soft |
| ③ impression を用いた表現 ※ I got the impression that he was lying. ※ He gave the impression that he was hiding something. |
| ④その他の表現 ※ It’s giving me good vibes. – vibe「感じ・雰囲気」カジュアルな表現 ※ He comes across as a good person. – come across は「印象を与える」 |
Lesson 152 発言タイプ：安全 安全性判断
▶︎「安全策をとる」「リスクをとらない」こうした表現を学びましょう。
[Key] Let’s play it safe and put on our spacesuits.
※安全策をとって、宇宙服を着用しましょう。
👉 play it safe は「安全にプレーする→安全策をとる」。リスクをとらないようにすることを
表す頻用表現です。「安全」を話題にするとき、中心になる語は safe と risk です。
◎その他の表現を学びましょう。
| ① safe を用いた表現 ※ It’s safer to make a backup cpu. ※ This area is as safe as houses. |

| ② risk「被害・損害につながる潜在的な危険性」、risky を用いた表現 ※ It’s risky to walk alone at night around here. ※ You should avoid anything risky. ※ You should stay away from anything risky. / You should keep away from anything risky. ※ Don’t take risks. – take risks「危険を冒す」 |

| ③その他の表現 ※ Take an umbrella in case it rains. -「〜するといけないから・〜の場合に備えて」 ※ Take an umbrella just to be safe. ※ Take an umbrella just to be on the safe side. ※ Take an umbrella. You can never be too careful. -「〜しすぎることはない」 – Take an umbrella. You can never be too cautious. |
Lesson 153 発言タイプ：重要① 重要です
▶︎今回は、「重要性」を伝える表現を学びましょう。
[Key] The important thing is to continue.
※大事なことは続けることですよ。
👉「重要」を表す最も一般的な表現は important。ここでは説明語句に to 不定詞を使い、
「これから〜すること」というニュアンスになっています。
◎「重要性」を示すさまざまな形を学びましょう。
| ① it 〜 to … の形を用いた表現 ※ It’s [ vital / essential / crucial / very important ] to do that. – vital「命に関わる」essential「本質的な・核心的な」crucial「極めて重要な」 |
| ② of ＋抽象名詞 を用いた表現 (形容詞と同じ説明機能を有する) ※ Doing that is of great importance. / Doing that is of key importance. ※ Doing that is of vital importance, / Doing that is of (the) utmost importance. – of importance 「重要な」 utmost はかなりオシャレな言い回し |
| ③ it 〜 that … の形を用いた表現 ※ It is important that you remain calm. ※ It is imperative that you remain calm, – imperative は「命令」をイメージとする「極めて重要な・必要不可欠な」 |
| ④ value「尊重する・重んじる」を用いた表現 ※ We value our customers’ opinions. |
Lesson 154 発言タイプ：重要② 重要ではありません
▶︎「重要ではない」「大したことじゃない」と重要ではないことを伝える表現を学びましょう。
[Key] It’s not a big deal.
※大したことではありません。
👉 deal には issue を表す使い方があり、この文の not a big deal は「大した問題ではない」と
重要性を否定する、カジュアルな表現です。
◎重要ではないことを表す表現をいくつか自分のものにしておきましょう。
| ①さまざまな表現 ※ It’s not important to do that. – important を否定し「重要でない」 ※ Don’t worry about trivial things. – trivial は「些細な・取るに足りない」 ※ Don’t sweat the small stuff. – sweat は「汗をかく→心配する・恐れる」 ※ It’s of [ little / no ] consequence. – [ほとんど/全く]重要ではない |
| ② deal を用いた表現 ※ It’s not such a big deal. ※ What’s the big deal? – 疑問の意図のない疑問文：カジュアルな「大したことないさ」 |
| ③ matter「重要である・問題である」を用いた表現 ※ It doesn’t matter. |
| ④ care を用いた表現 – 重要でないことを表すカジュアルな表現 ※ I don’t care. ※ Who cares? ※ I couldn’t care less. |
