Lesson 183 other のバリエーション
👉 other「ほかの・ほかのもの」▶︎４つのバリエーション
① an ＋ other： a(n) のイメージ＜ほかにもあり特定のひとつに決まらない＞
▶︎ another「ほかにもある中のひとつ」
② the ＋ other：the は＜ひとつに決まる＞
▶︎ the other「ほか」がひとつに決まる ➡️そもそも２つしかないから
③ the ＋ others：the ＋複数形 の形 – ひとつに決まるグループ、特定のグループ
▶︎ the others「残り全部」
④ others：限定詞のつかない表現 – 具体性のない「〜というもの・〜一般」
▶︎ others「ボンヤリと別のもの」

👉 May I 〜? というのは、下から上にたずねる、非常にですね、
丁寧な疑問文です。
② Actually, I’d like your advice.
👉さあこの actually という単語、相手にとって予想外の内容を持ち出す時に
使われる表現ですね。しっかりと覚えておきましょう。
③ But I‘m not fond of this pattern.
👉さあ、ここでは I’m not fond of 〜 というフレーズが出て来ましたね。
be fond of 〜「〜が好き」というフレーズなんですが、like とどこが違うん
でしょうかね。
So what’s the difference between “be fond of” and “like”?
▶︎ Well, everyone uses “like.” It’s the, you know, the default word.
But “fond” always reminds me of the French word “fondre,” which means
to melt. So it’s like”a heart-melting likeness.”
R: It’s like a very fuzzy feeling.
④ Yes, that’s more like it.
👉 more like it” これは、もうまとめて「その方がいい、しっくり来る」
と覚えていただいて構いませんが、この it は「私が求めていたもの」
みたいなものが、ボンヤリ示されています。
