👉10月も引き続き前置詞の学習です。

👉 for のイメージ「向かって」▶︎「注視・フォーカス」するのは「理由・原因」も

▶︎ What happened?

▶︎ Hey, you won’t believe it!

▶︎ This is weird. Chris McVay here. Because I had exactly the same idea,
but as usual you guys stole it. I can’t believe it!

Dialogue で

① You won’t believe it!
👉何か大きなニュースがあった風な表現ですね。

② My video of our cat Umi went viral.
👉さあ、ここで went viral というフレーズが出てきましたね。
go viral これはネット上で情報が急速に拡散することを示します。
「バズる」というわけですね。

③ So many people watched it!
👉さあ、watch という動詞が出てきました。watchは「注視する」というわけ
ですね。ジッと物を見る、ということを意味する動詞です。そこから動いている
ものが得意な動詞ということになるわけですね。動いている物を見る時には、
人間は集中しなくてはいけませんからね。

④ There must be some reason for it.
👉 There must be と言って、must が使われていますね。
must は「〜に違いない」確信を表す助動詞です。

⑤ You can’t take the credit for everything.
👉 credit というのは、「信用」あるいは「信頼」ということですね。
あるいは、そこから「手柄」というニュアンスも生まれます。
take the credit for 〜「〜を自分の手柄にする」というわけですね。

so many people are using it. Because we put a lot of effort into
making it.

▶︎ Guys, are you ready to practice?
We’re still on “for.” Don’t forget the basic image of “direction towars
something.” From there, now today, we’re gonna focus on the reason or
cause. “For” is used to focus on the reason or cause of something.
So let’s start!

▶︎ And remember to think only in English.

Chris
▶︎ Yeah, so here we go!
・Thank you … Why are you saying “thank you”? Thank you for …. Try.
・I’m grateful for 〜.
・I’m sorry for 〜.
・I apologize for 〜.

▶︎ And here’re some examples using the great combination of “for”
and “reason.” Let’s go though them.
・For this reason, she didn’t do that.
・For some reason, she didn’t do that.
・There must be some reason for it.

▶︎ OK. An interesting one to finish with.
・You can’t see the forest for the trees.
Why can’t you see the forest?
Because of all the individual trees.
You’re missing out on the big picture. So let’s try that again.
