👉1月は、限定詞・名詞関連・接続詞のイメージについて学習します。
今週から、「接続詞」を扱います。

Lesson 196 主要接続詞①：流れの and

A and B ▶︎単なる「A＋B」ではない。そこには「因果関係の流れ」が感じられる

Opening で

Roza
▶︎ Hey, everyone. Akino Roza here. Let’s get started.

Chris
▶︎ Hi, guys. Chris McVay here. Roza, they say curiosity kill the cat,
but I think it’s good to be curious. What about you?

Roza
▶︎ I think so too.

Chris
▶︎ Anyway, let’s get started.

Dialogue で

① I made Frankie curious.
👉さあ、この made Frankie curious この形は目的語説明型です。
▶︎目的語説明型は、目的語 ( Frankie ) と説明語句 ( curious ) の間に、
「＝(イコール)」あるいは「主語・述語の関係」がある形。
この文では、「 Frankie ＝ curious という風に」作った、とアンリます。

② He said he needed friends other than me.
👉さあ、other than 〜の「他に」という表現。
しっかりと覚えておきましょう。

③ He still likes you.
👉 さあ、still という単語が出てきましたね。「まだ、依然として」という単語です。
覚えておきましょう。

④ Oh, Dr. Frank N. Stein, do you remember this gazebo?
👉さあ、ここでは奇妙な単語 gazebo が出てきましたね。
これは「あずまや」あるいは「ガゼボ」と呼ばれることもある、そうした建造物
のことを指しています。

⑤ I enjoyed watching the rain.
👉さあ、この enjoy という動詞。
▶︎この動詞は後ろに to 不定詞をとることが出来ず、ing形がくる、というわけでしたね。
目的語として来るときは、〜ing形。しっかりと覚えましょう。
ここでも、enjoyed watching the rain となるわけです。

Practice

Today we’re focusing on the word “and” as a basic conjunction.
The main thing here is to catch the rhythm of a sentence to achieve
a smooth flow. A sheee ….. B, A sheee ….. B, OK?
So with that in mind, let’s practice. Here we go!
・John and Mary
・you and me
・a cup and saucer
・bread and butter
・He’s gentle and kind.
・I sand and danced.

▶︎ Let’s continue.
・I made a sandwich quickly and ate it.
Here it’s very clear that there’s a time relationship.
I made a sandwich, and then I ate it. Let’s try one more time.
・I made a sandwich quickly and ate it.
