4月のテーマは基本動詞①

👉基本動詞とは
▶︎日常頻繁に使われる動詞のこと
– こうした動詞は極端に単純な意味を持つため、無数の状況と日本語訳に
対応します。
そのため基本動詞の学習は、

シンプルなイメージ(中核となる意味・ニュアンス)をつかみ、それがどういった
状況に使われるのかをつぶさに理解し頭に入れることが必要

👉 have のイメージは「周りにある」- 位置を表す、動きのない静的なイメージ

Opening で

Onishi
▶︎ Hey, Chris. I have some good news for you.

Chris
▶︎ Oh, great! What’s that?

Onishi
▶︎ I’ve lost some weight.

Chris
▶︎ Ah 〜, why is that good news for me?

Onishi
▶︎ Ah, you have to carry me when I’m drunk, right?
So that’s why the good news.

Chris
▶︎ Oh, no! He looked that way, yeah.

▶︎ Chris McVay here. Look I’m still recovering from Onishi Sensei’s
opening. So let’s carry on.

Dialogue で

① I have good news and bad news for you.
👉これ、なかなか日本語では出てきませんけれどね。
英語ではまあまあ聞きますよね。みなさんもしっかりと覚えましょう。
▶︎いいニュースと悪いニュースがある – どっちが聞きたい？
というわけです。

② The bad news is that I haven’t found a human teenager friend for you.
👉ここの that 以下の I haven’t found – これは現在完了形が使われていますよね。
過去から今に迫ってくる – それが現在完了形の基本的なイメージです。
▶︎過去から今に向けてずっと見つけられていない – それをこの形が表しているんだ、
というわけですね。

③ Oh, that’s too bad.
👉これ (too bad) は「残円な」というよく使われるフレーズです。
しっかり覚えましょう。

④ What will he look like?
👉さあ、この will に注目しましょう。
なぜ、will が使われているのかわかりますか？
– もちろん、これはですね、未来の状況にふっと目をやっているわけです。
これからの状況に目をふっとやっているその目つきですよね。その視線の
送り方 – これが will に反映されているというわけです。
▶︎ will は必ずしも「〜だろう」と常にそう訳さなくてはいけない、という
わけではありません。日本語訳は、その英語の感覚を正確に
「うつしとっている」わけではないんだ – ということ、これを１つ
頭に置いてくださいね。

⑤ Sounds good.
👉これはオーバーラッピングの形ですよね。
主語は隠れていますけれども、it あるいは that が使われているんでしょう。
it ＝ good のように聞こえる – sound の意味が文全体にオーバーラップ
される感触で使われていますよ。

⑥ You can decide.
👉ここの can は「許可」を与えている can です。
「〜していいよ」

Practice – have の基本イメージ

Chris
▶︎ OK. Let’s practice the new verb of “make,” this we use so often, right?
Now unlike “make,” which implies a lot of action, “have” is a static verb.
So we’re gonna focus on “position.”

For example, I have two brothers.
Two brothers are next to me, close to me, all around me.
It’s all about “position” with us, OK?

Let’s practice together.
・have two windows.
・have a brother
So here we are. The two windows, the brother are next to us,
around us. That’s all. There that in mind, that’s the practice today.
Last chance.
・have two windows – Try!
・have a brother – Excellent.

▶︎ Here is the next example.
・have a lot of rain ×２

Chris
▶︎ Great! Let’s move on.
・have an accident
・have a party
・have a checkup
Let’s just practice one of these.

・have an accident – OK?
“Have an accident” is around you, or caring around you.
So here we go!
・have an accident – Try!
One last time with the same feeling!
・have an accident

▶︎ And in the last example, here two we have something that’s close.
・So “have a headache”
You have a headache. It’s in your head. It’s very close.
・have a doubt
You have a doubt. It’s inside you.
So let’s practice again.
