それでは、詳しくB の問題を見ていきます。

B の解説 – 山登りに関する記事

👉A も B も「ある設定」のもとでの「英文読解」なので、
一番最初にするべきことは、その「設定」をしっかり把握することです。
▶︎その「設定」が、問題の最初に説明されているので、
まずは、それをしっかりと確認します。

【設定】
B  You enjoy outdoor sports and have found an interesting story in a mountain
climbing magazine.
[登場人物]
・「あなた」
[設定状況]
[1] 👉赤いアンダーラインから
– アウトドアスポーツを楽しむ人で
[2]👉黄色いアンダーラインから
– 山登り雑誌で興味のある記事を見つけたのようです。

▶︎この「設定」の下にあるのが、
「あなた」が見つけた「k」です。

👉ここまでを、
理解した上で、「先に」問題の選択肢をチェックした方が、効率的かと思います。

問１について

問１ 次の出来事を起こった順に並べなさい。

👉まずは、記事のタイトルは
「３つの登頂に挑戦」となっています。

▶︎出来事の起きた順に並べる問題なので、
「記事」の概要を把握しなくてはいけません。
– 記事は「４段落」で構成されていますので、段落ごとに確認しましょう。

◎ １段落： Last September, 〜
「 the Three Peaks Challenge とは、そして参加メンバー」
🔴タイトルにある “the Three Peaks Challenge” とは何か、そして
筆者を含めたメンバーの簡単な紹介が書かれています、
・メンバー：12人 – うち10名が登山者、2名はミニバスの運転者
・the Three Peaks Challenge とは…
①スコットランドで一番高い山：Ben Nevis
②イングランドで一番高い山：Scafell Pike
③ウェールズで一番高い山：Snowdon 
– の３つの山を24時間 (山々の移動移動時間約10時間含む)以内に登るチャレンジ
※ Ben Nevis のふもとからスタートし、Snowdon のふもとで終了

◎ ２段落：We began our first climb 〜.
「第１の山 – Ben Nevis の登頂」について
-「筆者」が電話を紛失 ▶︎見つかった
– 予定より15分間予定より遅れた

◎ ３段落：We reached our next destination, 〜.
「第２の山 – Scafell Pike の登頂」について
– 夕方の早い時間に到着、ミニバスで休憩後登頂開始
– 登頂に時間がかかったが、移動時間が短く計画通りに行った

◎ ４段落：Unfortunately, soon after we started 〜.
「第３の山 – Snowdon の登頂」について
– 最後の登頂を始めるとまもなく、雨が降り始めた
– 雨が降り、メンバーの２人がミニバスに戻った
– タイムチャレンジには成功しなかったが、登頂は成功した

👉これをもとにして、①〜④の内容がどの段落に入るか確認します。
① All members reached the top of the highest mountain in Scotland.
▶︎ Scotland の山 Ben Nevis の登頂に書かれているのは、２段落
( We reached the summit in under three hours.)
② Some members gave up climbing Snowdon.
▶︎ 最後の山 Snowdon の登頂に書かれているのは、４段落
( and two members of the team decided to return to the minibus. )
③ The group travelled by minibus to Wales.
▶︎ Wales にあるのは Snowdon.
第２の山 Scafell Pike の登頂が終わり、そこから第３の山への移動のことは、３段落
( However, because the traffic was light, we were right on schedule 〜.)
④ The team members helped to find the writer’s phone.
▶︎「筆者」の電話を落としたのは、第１の山の登頂の後なので、２段落
( I realised I had dropped my phone. Fortunately, I found it with help of the team,
but we lost 15 minutes.)

◎ ①と④は、同じ２段落ですが、
内容を確認すると、「登頂した①」→「電話を落とした④」の順番となります。

👉ここから、正解が
① → ④ → ③ → ② となります。あることがわかります。

問２について

Scafell Pike での具体的な様子は、第３段落で書かれていますので、
この段落を詳しく見てみましょう。

👉黄色いマーカーの部分で登頂の時間について語っています。
▶︎そのの部分を見ると
・As it got darker, though, we had to slow down. It took four-and-a-half hours
to complete Scafell Pike. Again, it took longer than planned, and time was
running out. とあり
「暗くなっってしまっため、ペースを落とすしかなかった」ことがわかります。

👉そこから、

👉今までの確認した内容から、
それぞれの選択肢の内容をチェックしましょう。

▶︎第４段落の最後の方に、
“Even though we weren’t successful with the time challenge, we were successful
with the clime challenge.” とあります。
「タイムチャレンジには成功しなかったけれども、登頂チャレンジには成功した」とあり、その後にさらに、

「私たちは12人のチームで、そのうち10人が登山者で、２名がミニバスの運転手」
とありますが、記事を読んでいくと…
“We trained on and off for several months.”
“We began our first climb 〜.”
などとある箇所からすると、「筆者」は climber であることがわかるので、❌
