Lesson 229 会話の原則⑯：NAGARE 発言を遮る
👉NAGARE 発言を遮る
▶︎今回は、会話の中で相手の発言を遮らななければならない場面で使う表現を学びましょう。
会話の場面
登場人物
・ラジオ英会話の出演者ディビットさん (David)
・手相占い師のヒロコ (Hiroko)
状況
・ディビットさんが、初めて手相を見てもらいます。ヒロコさんは、何を当てるのでしょう。
Opening で
Roza
▶︎ Hey, everyone. This is Akino Roza.
David
▶︎ And I’m David Evans. I’m washing my hands of this.
Dialogue で
① I’ve never been to a palm reader.【 been to の使い方 】
👉 been to – 普通は「場所」がその後ろに来るわけです。例えば、been to London
みたいなわけですね。ここでは、a palm reader となっているでしょう。
こうした言い方もできるんです。
② Yes, everyone says that when they come here.【 everyone と３単現 】
👉さあ、everyone says – everyone は単数扱いですから、３単現の -s がついて
says となっています。ご注意ください。
③ How did you know that? 【 丸ごと覚えてしまいましょう。 】
👉ここで出てきた、How did you know that?「どうしてそんなことがわかったのですか。」
この文は、全文を覚えて下さいね。使い勝手のいい文です。
④ That’s fine. 【 fine の語感 】
👉ここの fine の語感に注意しましょう。That’s fine.「それは素晴らしい」と言っている
わけではありません。fine は「にごりのない・問題がない」というわけです。
