11月のテーマは、判断を表現する

発言のタイプ別おすすめ表現を多数学びます。
などへとゆっくり進めていきます。

◎11月は
▶︎「発言タイプ」ー【判断を表現する】を勉強します。
私たちが日々行なっている、可能性や重要性、難易、優先などの判断を精度高く
表現することが目標です。

Lesson 146 発言タイプ：可能性⑤ ありそうもない

👉可能性⑤ ありそうもない
▶︎今回は、低い可能性を表す表現を学びましょう。

会話の場面

登場人物

・ネットでアルバイトを探しているロキシー (Roxy)
・ロキシーの父 (Dad)

状況

・ネットで一生懸命アルバイトを探しているロキシーに、お父さんが話かけていますよ。

Opening で

Roza
▶︎ Hey, everyone. This is Akino Roza.

David
▶︎ And I’m David Evans. I have no idea you didn’t like the snacks I gave you.

Dialogue で

① Let me just finish typing this.【目的語説明型の let – ここでは許可】
👉さあ、ここでは let me just finish typing this – この文では、目的語説明型が使われて
いますね。me が just finish typing this を許せ – という形。しっかる作れるようにして
みてくださいね。

② I’m done. 【「終わりました。」という表現】
👉さあ、I’m done.「終わりました。」という表現。もうまとめて覚えてしまっていいですね。

③ It sounds interesting.　【 sound を用いた説明型オーバーラッピング】
👉これは説明型オーバーラッピングの形ですね。it ＝ interesting に sound “聞こえる” –
というわけです。

Practice

Roza
▶︎ OK, everyone. It’s time to practice. For today’s practice I want you to try to memorize
these phrases in chunks. Especially phrases like “It’s unlikely that 〜.” or “There’s little
chance that 〜,” that will help you sound much more natural and smooth when you
speak.

David
▶︎ All right, everyone. Let’s jump in. Here’s our first.
・It’s unlikely that he hasn’t noticed.
・He is unlikely to have forgotten.

Roza
▶︎ Great. Let’s continue.
・It’s doubtful that I’ll be selected.

David
▶︎ OK. Continuing on.
・There’s little chance that this can be repaired.
・There’s little chance this can be repaired.
Here’s another.
・There’s not much hope of fixing the damage.

Roza
▶︎ Great! And our last example.
・He hasn’t got a prayer of succeeding.
And one more variation.
・He doesn’t have a prayer of succeeding.
